Can the Cats get with the program and offer Wiens a full ride. He could easily be the defensive player of the year and would be a huge commitment to get.

At what grade can coaches start recruiting high school students? Wasn’t sure if there was a certain grade or if coaches could start recruiting at like the Freshman grade.

It varies by sport. For football, it's 9/1 of their Junior year. There are lots of ways around that though...coaches can accept phone calls at any time, so if they're really interested in a freshman or sophomore, they can send a camp invite with their phone number and then accept that phone call.

WBB it is the same as you mention. 9/1 of Junior year.

He tagged 2 former Bobcat coaches. I wonder if Boise State has them recruiting MT as part of their territory to grab up recruits that may be strongly considering coming our way.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Right now if there was a kid who could jump into the rare category with a great summer camp circuit at FBS schools is Hayden Hanks. We rarely have athletic defensive lineman built like him in Montana but I would bet a lot of money that a FBS school would be too afraid to offer a Class B kid from this state. They barely pull the trigger on AA talent.
Bump!

I’m quite sure Boise State, particularly when they first got Matt Miller, was quite aware of Montana. Along with Kane, that changes the recruiting dynamic of one FBS school in Montana. Kane, please quit reading Bobcat Nation.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why Wiens hasn’t been offered yet.

Kauwe has an official visit with Kentucky next week. Looks likely he goes FBS.

I dont know if you're into ranking kickers, but Jacob Kauwe from West High is registering on radars outside of Montana...
This kid is a stud. I have seen him at several kicking camps and he is a legit kicker. I think he could easily end up going FBS though.

After not putting any kids in the "Rare Ones" category, Hayden Hanks has committed to Boise State and Quinn Clark picks up an offer from Nebraska.

Yeah maybe he'll be this year's Hayden Opitz for the Bobcats (i.e. a Montana kid that doesn't get offered by MSU who has no business not getting offered by MSU).

Doesn't say scholarship, just offer to play. Could be walk on?

Re Opitz: I just assumed msu didn't offer because of the strong UM family ties.

I mean yes but still any offer from a Power 5 program is big, PWO or Full Ride.

I think we have won more of those battles the last few years than the griz have.
