11/26 First round playoffs
Matt McKay struggling. Looks a lot like he looked at the end for the Cats. Missing throws, runs only when it’s his last option.

He looks good with a decent pocket. But his OTs are bad and Furman is collapsing the pocket quickly.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 11:39 amMatt McKay struggling. Looks a lot like he looked at the end for the Cats. Missing throws, runs only when it’s his last option.

He looks tentative l. Watched him run on a 4th and 1 and it looked like he just didn’t want to get hit. I’m still rooting for him but both those teams look like their is a pretty big gap in talent from top 6 of the big sky.

You can really see why the griz's defensive scheme completely flustered him last year.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here & say that the CAA isn't very good this year. McKay was always at least an average FCS QB, but a weak CAA made McKay look like a world beater.

I'm thinking you are correct here.
Plus McKay hasn't been known as a guy who thrives under pressure.

I'm not sure 223 passing YPG are world beater numbers. His TD - Int ratio is about the same as it was last year. He's been good, not great and Elon's D has won them some games.

I'll give McKay this, he seems to know how to pick teams with a defense good enough to carry him and make him look good or better than he is.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 12:06 pmI'm not sure 223 passing YPG are world beater numbers. If you're looking for someone with a little authority, I'm your man. I have as little as anyone!

Re: 11/26 First round playoffs
I don’t think that is his objective. I think his objective was just to play football. I think he has a bit of a problem with shell shock and needs to be coached to his strengths. Outside of those strengths he really strugglesJoe Bobcat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 12:15 pmI'll give McKay this, he seems to know how to pick teams with a defense good enough to carry him and make him look good or better than he is.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 12:06 pmI'm not sure 223 passing YPG are world beater numbers. Passing yards per game is a meaningless stat. He’s #11 on n passing efficiency which is what actually matters in measuring QB effectiveness.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 12:06 pmI'm not sure 223 passing YPG are world beater numbers. But he did it against a pretty pedestrian batch of defenses.

Re: 11/26 First round playoffs
I've actually thought he looks good today. Doesn't have great pocket presence but has made some really nice throws and had some nice runs. Couple drops and a poor offensive line is really hurting Elon.onceacat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 1:11 pmPassing yards per game is a meaningless stat. 14-7. Not a ton of defense among these teams in the SDSU quadrant.

Furman came in with 5 or 6 sacks on the year according to the announcer

Fordham hasn't played any D all year. The only chance they have of winning is scoring 45+
