Saw a Twitter tweet today from Clevan Thomas:

News about my future coming soon.

I thought I had heard he was coming back, hopefully this confirms it.

Getting him back would be huge!

So far, are there any defensive players we are going after? Would have been nice to of scored the linebacker from Hawaii the Griz got. So far, have he gotten any real playmakers from the portal?

I am sure we will see more additions from the transfer portal between now and next summer….

But with that being said, Vigen has made it pretty clear that he wants the focus to be on highschool recruits that he can develop (hopefully long term). Which I totally agree with.

I don’t think he wants to be one of those programs that just signs like 15-20 transfer portal guys every year as a “quick fix”.

Not sure what is going on with programs like UIW and Campbell but they are killing it in the transfer market. They are signing some big time recruits.

Reaching deep into the transfer portal is a roll of the dice regarding team chemistry and culture. Example: Missouri State was nationally ranked top 10 pre-season with lots of "big" transfers and finished 8th (3-5) in the MVFC.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't believe relying heavily on the portal is a model for consistently being an elite program.

Pretty much, sounds like they want to allow one transfer and then a second transfer only if a player has graduated and still has eligibility left. Anything beyond that would need a special waiver of the rules for one of the reasons mentioned in the article.

I'm sure any new rule wouldn't be retroactively applied.

It's not retroactive, but goes into effect 23-24 season, so any player that transferred in the last few months could not transfer again next year unless they graduate.

Taco can do everything he can plus return punts. Not worried about him leaving one bit.

Thomas was the best route runner on this year's team. Fortunately, that's something that can be coached.
