Jon was a tackle. At least in the years I saw him. Write in vote for Mike Quast.

Talk about laboring in anonymity. Of all the position groups this one is by far the least familiar. I remember Flynn and Hansen, and I played softball with Leon Potkay for part of a season. I remember the name Terrien, and I think Lee Washburn was from Bozeman. That’s really my sum total of knowledge about the stars at OG. I guess I know even less about the rest. Am I the only one feeling lost with this group?

Fred Chez started it all way back in the day. Tony Welzenbach was a legend of the 60s joined by four other All-Big Sky guards. You have the great guards of the 70s in Daly, Washburn, Potkay, Iverson, and Doyle. Bruce Randall highlighted a solid 80s trio. Toilolo, Quast, and Figeroua were stalwarts of the early 2000s. Hansen was an all time great in-state product graduating in the late 2000s. Alex Terrien played many positions but was best at guard for Denarius and crew. Quinn Catalano followed in Alex's footsteps playing multiple spots but excelling at guard. JP Flynn comes over from Iowa and dominates for 4 years arguably being the bestever.

OG Ranking - Top 10 (MSU's string of offensive guards in the 1970s was insane)
1.) JP Flynn (4x All-Big Sky; All-America 2016; 2 year stint with 49ers before injuries cut career short)
2.) Jeff Hansen (3x All-Big Sky; 2x All-America 2008-2009; Cowboys training camp 2010)
3.) Lee Washburn (2x All-Big Sky; 1978 NFL Draft Pick)
4.) Jay Daly (3x All-Big Sky; All-America 1979; Jay's sons Bobby and Brad are MSU legends as well)
5.) Alex Terrien (2x All-Big Sky; All-America 2011)
6.) Fred Chez (2x All-Rocky Mountain; All-America 1928; Bobcat HOF)
7.) Ron Iverson (2x All-Big Sky; All-America 1975)
8.) Leon Potkay (2x All-Big Sky; All-America 1973)
9.) Mataio Toilolo (2x All-Big Sky; against McNeese State in the playoffs he took the 2nd half at center despite being at about 30% due to other injuries along a depleted offensive line)
10.) Lawrence Figueroa (2x All-Big Sky; one of the best JC transfers ever at MSU)
