MSU had the most (7) players on the All-BSC preseason team. Three on offense, two on defense and two on STs. UM had five (one offense, four defense, one STs). SAC had five (four offense, one all-purpose).

I thought Ifanse would be the offensive MVP. O'Connell was an easy pick on defense.

THE 2022 PRESEASON ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE TEAM
Offensive MVP – Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. (UC Davis)
Defensive MVP - Patrick O'Connell (Montana)

QB – Tommy Mellott (Montana State)
RB – Isaiah Ifanse (Montana State), Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. (UC Davis)
FB – R. J. Fitzgerald (Montana State)
TE – Marshel Martin (Sacramento State)
WR – Beau Kelly (Portland State), Efton Chism III (EWU), Pierre Williams (Sacramento State)
C – Connor Pettek (UC Davis)
OG – Jake Parks (UC Davis), Brandon Weldon (Sacramento State)
OT – Noah Atagi (Weber State), Jonas Leader (NAU)
K – Kyle Sentkowski (Sacramento State)
RS – Malik Flowers (Montana)
AP – Asher O'Hara (Sacramento State)

DT – Alex Gubner (Montana), Joshua Jerome (EWU)
DE – VJ Malo (Portland State), Brody Grebe (Montana State)
OLB – Patrick O'Connell (Montana), David Hoage (UNC)
ILB – Callahan O'Reilly (Montana State), Fa'Avae Fa'Avae (Idaho)
CB – Justin Ford (Montana), Anthony Adams (Portland State)
S – Robby Hauck (Montana), Morgan Vest (NAU)
P – Bryce Leighton (Montana State)
LS – Tommy Sullivan (Montana State)

I agree with you about Ifanse. If I understand correctly each team nominated someone for offensive and defensive MVP. I read that the Cats nominated Mellott so Ifanse wasn't eligible to receive the award.

Lots of good stuff here in Spokane today. It is clear that Montana State’s culture is in good hands.

We voted for Ifanse. But he wasn't nominated. Then we voted for Pierre Williams of Sac State...also not nominated.

@Colter_Nuanez I couldn't tell from yesterday's show but it sounded like you know how the coached poll voting went, as far as what votes each team received. Are you allowed to make that public? I'm sure we'd all be interested to see what votes we received and how we were able to finish third while receiving the most first place votes.

Hero asked BSC coaches some good questions. Link is below. Lots of love for MSU, Tommy and a couple others.

Here is the dumbest thing I saw when coaches were asked who you would want from another team. “The defensive back from Montana. Hauck’s kid (Robby Hauck). I love that kid and he’s fun to watch.”

That's gotta be a Barney quote. He's president of the Bobbi Hauck fan club.

He likely isn't on all of them but we need to play the game of "find the Bobby" quote.

In the first section, this one is Hauck because its the only one that doesn't mention Montana State.

Bingo. Then I think he's the first one on the "state of FCS realignment" too.

For the question of what's the best head coaching gig in the FCS, the coach that picked Montana State has to be Northern Colorado's Ed McCaffrey. He doesn't pay enough attention to know anything beyond the Big Sky, and he barely knows that.

I'd say he's largely correct because of the second sentence in the quote. A lot of coaches think Missoula is the best job but the expectations are largely unreasonable there because everyone is living in the past. At MSU the expectations are high but everyone has one foot in the next 5 years and the other foot in 2000. We know where we're going but remember where we've been. The griz think that because they dominated a different landscape they should always dominate, regardless of how the football world has changed since then.
