Bryan Shepherd new cornerbacks coach
Bryan Shepherd, who served as cornerbacks coach for North Dakota State’s 2017 FCS national championship team, is in his fourth season as a quality control coach at Syracuse.
Since arriving at Syracuse, the Orange defense has produced numerous NFL draftees and had the most takeaways at the FBS level over the last-three seasons.
A 2015 NDSU graduate, Shepherd served on the coaching staff at his alma mater for two seasons. He worked as a defensive assistant in 2016 and was promoted to full-time cornerbacks coach in February 2017.
In first season on the staff, Shepherd worked with NDSU’s defensive backs in addition to coordinating the scout team offense and special teams. In 2017, Shepherd mentored a collection of cornerbacks who helped the Bison rank first nationally in total defense (237.4 ypg), second in passing efficiency defense (93.12) and third in interceptions (22). Overall, NDSU went 14-1 and defeated James Madison to win its sixth FCS national title.
Before joining the coaching staff, Shepherd was a defensive back for the Bison’s first three FCS national championship teams (2011-13). He went on to play for the Washington Redskins in the 2014 preseason as an undrafted free agent. In 2015, he spent time with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.
A native of Olathe, Kansas, Shepherd attended the University of Nebraska Omaha for two years before transferring to North Dakota State. He earned his bachelor’s degree in university studies from NDSU in 2015.

Obviously the pay is better than an analyst at Syracuse, wouldn't you think?

He sounds amazing! Hopefully, he will stay for more than 1 year.

Re: Bryan Shepherd new cornerbacks coach
So how is this a promotion for him?
Doing it because he is a Vigen fan? More likely.
Which would which would be good news for us if vigen stays

I would think that Vigen will stay at least until his son is finished with football, or NDSU starts looking for a new coach. I don't think he's really looking for an FBS job quite yet.Montanabob wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 11:23 pmSo how is this a promotion for him?

I thought Choate would’ve stayed until his son finished footballing.Helcat72 wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 1:23 amI would think that Vigen will stay at least until his son is finished with football, or NDSU starts looking for a new coach. Look at the employment history of Choate and Vigen. Please let me know if you find one similarity.ND0479 wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 7:13 amI thought Choate would’ve stayed until his son finished footballing.Helcat72 wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 1:23 amI would think that Vigen will stay at least until his son is finished with football, or NDSU starts looking for a new coach. Who knows how long Vigen stays, but I wouldn't use Choates' move to UT as an indication of what Vigen might do.

It’s a promotion to move from an analyst to a position coach. A firm grasp on the first step of the ladder.Montanabob wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 11:23 pmSo how is this a promotion for him?

Not always … Shepherd moved from position coach at NDSU to analyst. Kane moved from position coach to analyst at UW. McGhee moved from position coach to analyst with the Texans.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 4:26 pmIt’s a promotion to move from an analyst to a position coach. Agreed. Relative to the “football power” of the institution.imacat wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 5:09 pmNot always … Shepherd moved from position coach at NDSU to analyst. Also, I imagine it's possible he'll get a partial ST coordinator assignment as well.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 4:26 pmIt’s a promotion to move from an analyst to a position coach.
