You are correct. This is a very odd choice out of the thousands of players.

I found quarterback Art Schlichter ranked at #67 on the all-time Ohio State greats list.RockyBearCat wrote: ↑Tue May 10, 2022 10:15 amYou are correct. This is a very odd choice out of the thousands of players.
I suppose folks could argue all day about whether the crime happened during or after his playing career or the size of the crime. Paraphrasing President LBJ's answer when asked by the press why he was less than forthcoming on a certain issue, he said...."son, when your mother in law comes to live with you and she's ugly, has bad breath, broken teeth and a wart on her nose...you don't keep her in the
living room".

Re: 125 All Time Greats
I was wondering if they’d pick him.
In regards to his play he was one of our best.
In regards to the guy, he was a terrible guy while in Bozeman and obviously only got worse after he moved on.
If the criteria is solely what one did on the field, he should be on this list. If the criteria is top “125 Bobcats” in the sense of people who reflect both the university and the community while also being a good person…he’s not in the top 1000.

Very glad to see Harvey Wylie, although I view him as an "automatic". Was on the 1956 team with Marinkovich and Holland that won the 1956 NAIA NC and beat the NCAA "University Division" griz 33-14. Also in the Canadian Football HOF. Still holds the record up there for the 110 yd. kickoff return. Had a tryout with the White Sox. Played "A" hockey in Canada.....and, a member of the Alberta Sports HOF.

I'm sometimes guilty of "Ready-Fire-Aim". After further review, he was not on the 1956 team.

One of my all-time favorite conversations with Adam was when he was explaining to me that there should be a college major in ‘manual labor’. You would learn the right way to dig holes and swing a hammer. I am pretty sure MSU hasn’t added that field of study yet.

Re: 125 All Time Greats
One of my favorite receivers ever! It hurt me watching him play that senior year as busted up as he was. Tough kid at the time.
With our new corner coach from Olathe, hope we can tap into some of that unrecruited KC and Oklahoma area that NDSU has had to themselves for several years.

Re: 125 All Time Greats
I agree. Is it too late to fix that? I always got a tingle when Dean would say “… coming to you from Reno H. Sales Stadium …”. It sounded important and exciting. I was a student at the time and I had no idea what Mr. Sales did. Salesville became Gallatin Gateway. That family just can’t catch a break. Let’s put his name back up and win in Frisco.FYI wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 3:55 pmReno Sales is just flat-out among the greatest Bobcats of all-time in almost any category.
Among his many contributions was cleaning up the mess left after the "Stadium For State" financial drive crashed in the late 60's. Have no reason, other than my own, to believe it's why the AD at the time moved on and accepted the same job at Fresno State, certainly not an upgrade at the time.
Mr. Sales (as I prefer to call him) took out his checkbook and wrote a check for $500,000, about $3.5 million today, to get the construction plan back on track, resulting in one of the best Division II football facilities in the nation at the time. No small coincidence it helped propel the Bobcats to the 1976 National Championship. I'm one of many who believes his name should never have been taken off that stadium! I would love to see the new plaza to be built connecting Bobcat Stadium to adjacent structures and parking be named Reno Sales Plaza. He's earned at least that!

Re: 125 All Time Greats
Tony was a mean MF! At guard he was smallish at today's standards, but he dominated most defenders he faced. One of the reasons Hass and Schaeffer had great senior years, and the Bobcats had a great ground game while he was there.
