Can we now officially push for Troy's number to be retired?
At the very least the team should unofficially decide not to have anyone wear it until the final decision is made.

I’ll drive down I15. That’s it. I been advocating for retiring 15 for a few years. He’s one of the best ever at MSU. No doubt.
MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: #15
41 is a special number for a specific purpose.
Retiring Troy's number is the least we can do for the greatest football player in school history. They aren't going to erect a statue (like some players have said in the past) and he's not going to get his name on a building (will likely be more generic/corporate) or a street (more likely for Waded). He probably wouldn't want any of those things anyway. Retiring a number is the tradition for greatness and we should be holding the administration to that.
I'm afraid a lot of people will put more effort into making excuses for not doing it than into pushing for it. It's not like it would start a trend. Guys like Troy just don't happen.

I like like the idea of putting the number with the other retired numbers, I just like the idea of still using a number.coloradocat wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 2:30 pm41 is a special number for a specific purpose.

At what point in their careers did Stenerud and Kollar have their #'s retired? That may point the way to the answer when the day comes.
The State of Montana is Bobcat country.
missoula....still just 20 miles from Montana.

If I were a player, I’d not want the Troy Andersen shadow looming over my number. Give me most anything except 15!!! Retire it, at least until Troy retires + 5 years. Put it up in the stadium now. I want recruits to look up and see it. And fans. And opponents.

You know in the same way that gris marketing administration started calling it gris/Cat and it caught on with gris fans to where they think they've always called it that.....we should all commit to informally calling it Interstate Troy or Interstate TA. I mean if we could make that catch on....how sweet would that be!

That ended a couple years ago. There are still some rules but I think it only applies to linemen at this point. The biggest part of the rule change is that if you change numbers you have to pay the NFL for the cost of all your jerseys that have been printed (so the player is essentially paying the NFL to donate jerseys to third world countries).
