Don't post the offer on social media until you have figured out who it's from. If you research enough to get pictures, hashtags etc, get the name right. They are honest mistakes but seems like such a rush to post offers anymore.

Currently 14 offers and counting to Texas players alone. Has there ever been a single state, other than Montana, where that many players have secured offers in a season? California maybe?

Sigh...

I'll never understand that. Has any player that used that name ever signed here? That could be an easy way for the coaches to filter out guys they've offered that aren't serious.
Maybe not the best resume...
Good grief guys. It’s an easy mistake for somebody that’s not from here. Lay off the kids.
MSU, not UMS. Is it that hard?
For us, no. We’ve grown up with it. For somebody from out of state, where it’s probably their first time actually thinking of Montana, it’s an easy mistake. It’s clearly not intended as an insult or derogatory, so I don’t see why anybody would rip a kid for saying it.
While that may be true, name one state in the union whose flagship land grant university is "University of _______ State" and I'll eat my hat. Imagine a recruit saying "I just got an offer from the University of Ohio State!" Or "the University of Louisiana State!" Sorry, but it's not an "easy mistake". And I don't blame the kid, it's sadly the product of our crumbling public education system.
Glad somebody else said it. My examples were going to be Michigan State and LSU. Of course some will then say yeah but those are FBS schools everyone knows. And really it's not a huge deal, but it's annoying and shows how much a recruit cares about details in my opinion.
Look, these are high school kids so it's not a huge deal, but it does make you question their true interest in MSU versus just getting offers. The recruiting process is essentially a job interview. Imagine referring to your potential future employer by the wrong name, especially a name that sounds an awful lot like the company's primary competition.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

MSU has had tremendous success with in-state recruits. NAU for decades had been concentrating on Texas, CA, and other football "powerhouse" states. Where has that gotten them? Not too far. There have been a plethora of AZ recruits that would have loved to go NAU under Axman and Souers. However, for some unknown reason the in-states received very little looks. Now, Ball is recruiting big time here in AZ and trying to make an "Arizona All Star team". Let's see how that pans out. Time will tell. Don't get me wrong, MSU still needs to spread its wings on the recruiting trail and boy am I glad they did.

Hand 'em out! We live in Austin and our son just finished Spring Ball and headed to 7-on-7 competition in Dallas. It's a job and religion here. I heard on the Horn Network that of all NFL players drafted in the past 5 years, if Dallas and Houston were their own states they would both rank in the top 10.

AFCAT, thanks for all of your work on the Board - especially in recruiting. Much appreciated.

Finally, a big boy. Those last handful of kids need to hit the fueling station immediately upon getting to MSU (if they come)

Disagree. Look at the NDSU D line roster. Not one over 285. NAU has several of the aforementioned type and style player and believe me it doesn't work. MSU has had tremendous success with the last four years with a little smaller D lineman like NDSU. Look to recruit style, ability, and an attitude like NDSU does and MSU has.

I find the whole spectacle of these recruits' social media posts using near-identical wording and photos to be very odd and forced, especially in a case like this in which the kid had almost certainly never heard of MSU until the offer was made.

I also find it somewhat funny that the same message board whose members mistakenly referred to the University of Northern Colorado as "NCU" for so long that it has became a running joke apparently have much higher standards when it comes to high school kids researching MSU to get the name right!

I’d say MSU is in the lead to land him…he went from excited about his Morgan State offer, to extremely glad about Grambling, to beatific (admittedly a new word to me) about MSU!
