Who do we lose?
2021 is a year that won’t soon be forgotten. Very proud of this team, they were incredibly fun to watch this year.
Goes without saying it was a very disappointing end today, but that doesn’t take away from what they accomplished this year.
With that being said, I can’t help but take an early look at the roster and see who will be back and who we’ll be losing next year.
Tre Webb- S
Amandre Williams- DE
Daniel Hardy- DE
Troy Andersen- LB
Chase Benson- DT
Kyle Rygg-DT
Tadan Gilman-LB
Dylan Porter-OL
Byron Rollins-DL
Tyrel Thomas-CB
Nate Stewart- WR
Lance McCutcheon-WR
Ryan Davis- TE
Taylor Tuiasosopo-OL
Lewis Kidd-OL
Tucker Rovig- QB
Peyton Hanser-WR
These are all guys listed by Okada in the post game pressers as seniors that won’t be back.
He didn’t list Coy Steel, who’s a jr, but I thought I heard earlier that he was done after his injury.
I know we’ll have guys retire, hit the portal, etc, but this is what I was coming up with for a list of guys graduating. Anyone I’m missing?
On the surface this is some major contributors were losing, but I can recall feeling that way for a few years now and we’ve been in reload mode lately, so here’s to hoping that trend continues.
*Edited after listening to the presser, Okada specifically listed out the seniors.

Re: Who do we lose?
Nate Stewart- any chance this guy could be eligible to apply for a medical redshirt season (or whatever it’s called)? He basically missed the entire regular season due to an injury.
Kyle rygg- what’s his status? I think he has 1 year left, but did I hear he is graduating early?
Tyrel Thomas- senior, but I think I read he could maybe come back?

Re: Who do we lose?
I don’t have the answer to those, but in general, I’d be surprised if we see many guys applying for medical redshirts, even if they could. With the COVID year, some of these guys have already been in college for 5-6 years, even if they can play another year, I have a feeling they’ll just be done and move on to the next chapter.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 4:06 pmNate Stewart- any chance this guy could be eligible to apply for a medical redshirt season (or whatever it’s called)? Pure gut feel speculation on my part, but I’m expecting to lose Ifanse at this point.

Re: Who do we lose?
Based on the post game interviews, I don't.
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Re: Who do we lose?
What is this based on, just that he's really good? Do you think all really good players will leave the fcs?

Like TheFrank said.... watch the post game interviews.....
I don’t think ifanse is going anywhere, except straight to the weight room to start training for next season.

Re: Who do we lose?
I would lose the offensive coordinator for running one back 30 times a game. Shorten his career real quick.

Re: Who do we lose?
My assumption is that he wants to give it a try in the NFL. If that's true, I wonder if he decides that another 300 touches on his body isn't worth it. And what could another season at this level do for his value as a prospect?
That's my thinking. For all I know, he has totally different priorities.

Re: Who do we lose?
Well, assuming I'm wrong and he's back, I think the solution is to improve the talent behind him. I also think a full season with Mellott at QB would take a lot off of Ifanse's shoulders.Montanabob wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 9:15 pmI would lose the offensive coordinator for running one back 30 times a game. Re: Who do we lose?
Yes- probably should be a separate thread... but next season they need to plan for the playoffs with Ifanse workload. 10-15 touches a game, save him for the playoffs, where we need him at 100%.

I think Elliot could give Ifanse that quick hitter 1-2 punch that Logan Jones provided in 2019.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 9:22 pmYes- probably should be a separate thread... but next season they need to plan for the playoffs with Ifanse workload. 10-15 touches a game, save him for the playoffs, where we need him at 100%.

Re: Who do we lose?
Before the post game press conference there might have been room to speculate but I think him sitting there and answering questions with Ty put that to rest. I don't think he goes out there if he's not invested in the future. The 2022 season started as soon as the clock hit zeros and Vigen sent his primary senior leaders out there to address the media.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Re: Who do we lose?
Did Ty Okada graduate? For some reason I thought this would be his last game as a Bobcat. It was great to hear from him after the game and definitely sounds like he'll be a team leader for the next 12 months.

Yeah, I've since seen the pressers and I would agree with that.coloradocat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 9:34 pmBefore the post game press conference there might have been room to speculate but I think him sitting there and answering questions with Ty put that to rest. Unfortunately the FCS is becoming the minor leagues for FBS. Ifanse was being actively recruited by Nebraska recently. I have a feeling some other FBS programs who need a good RB will do the same.

Re: Who do we lose?
I thought a player had to declare their decision to transfer before another school could contact/recruit them? NCAA has no “tampering” rules?ibleedblue wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 11:32 pmUnfortunately the FCS is becoming the minor leagues for FBS. Ifanse was being actively recruited by Nebraska recently.
