Re: Cats vs. UT - Martin predictions
There is no top and bottom of their conference. There is UT -Martin and the rest. With Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky gone that conference is much weaker. Austin Peay is leaving in 2022 as well. The realignment crap is making a bunch of weak conferences.kwcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 12:26 pmI think for those that are saying that the Ohio Valley conference is absolutely horrible are mistaken. I think they have a lot of disparity between top and bottom in their league just like the big sky. And for those of you think that it’s gonna be an easy game we didn’t exactly roll Austin Peay two years ago. But we adjusted, got better matchups, and came out with a win.
If the back up quarterback is in throwing the ball will have to be careful in our secondary matchups. Their receivers are really good at coming back for the ball and drawing interference calls.
If their original starter plays he’s good but I think we’ve been good at corralling those types of players.
I’m going to stay on a positive note and hope that our offensive playcalling as well as player performance at certain positions improves this week.
Also on a positive note I’m gonna hope our special teams improves. Not sure again who’s responsibility that is? But I’m gonna give our new coach credit to fix the problem.
With all of my “Ifs and butts and candies and nuts” I’m going to say

Re: Cats vs. UT - Martin predictions
So should everyone redo their projections now? Going to a proven starter that hasn't started all year...
I still think we win but the future just got a lot more murky.

I think no matter the offense we'll be running a lot, and UTM isn't a world beater against the run. So I'll stick with mine.

With the high winds expected in Bozeman on Saturday, we're gonna be running the ball a lotBleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 5:05 pmI think no matter the offense we'll be running a lot, and UTM isn't a world beater against the run. So I'll stick with mine.

Well, they aren’t staying at Big Sky.

I don’t think I’ve already made a prediction but if I have I rescind it.

Re: Cats vs. UT - Martin predictions
Massey computer rankings within the whole of FCS for #10 MSU, #20 UTM:
Offense MSU 27th, UTM 24th (fractions of a point — wash)
Defense MSU 5th, UTM 30th (+8 points better)
That puts us at -8.5.
And that’s the story of the game. Our defense is a lot better than theirs. And I believe our offense will be more run-oriented and we’ll find our power and run big on them. Predicted score is 28-19, but I think we’ll move both of those totals. I’m going with +/-6 points each way. I think the wind will blunt their deep passing game, our defense will be stellar and we’ll wear them down. Three touchdowns would be a very solid playoff win.
MSU 34
UTM 13

Howard is officially out for UTM. I think our D is going to wreak havoc on Winn and the passing attack of UTM. I predicted 31-13. I can see us giving up 10 or less, especially with the wind.

Re: Cats vs. UT - Martin predictions
No offense to McKay, but our “proven” starter has sucked the past few games. It’s not like we can really do much worse than what he did against the Griz.

Thanks! Ya I did that before the McKay drama, obviously.
