Holy Cross game had 4163 fans. It holds 23500.
Kennesaw had 2764 in attendance. It holds 8318.
Incarnate Word, 3448. The capacity is 6000.
S D State had 3681. Capacity is 19340.
MO State had 5072 with a capacity of 17337. They must do the 7 thingy too.
Ewoo had 3845. It caps at 8500...
So Dak had 3597 and caps at 9100.
SELA drew 4125 and caps at 7408.

Some pretty sad attendance at a few games. A few I would have figured to be a bit more.
The most pathetic to me is SDSU.
Yeah, I don’t get that one. I thought they had a better fan base. Amazing how these teams can be so dang good, have great facilities, and the fans can still be so wishy washy.
Holiday weekend probably played a large part in low attendance.
We still get at least 10k on our 1st round games normally though, don't we?
10,000 vs UIW in 2018
7,700 vs sdsu in 2014
9,400 vs Furman in 2006
The other thing that could have influenced attendance is that last year, most people stayed home for the holidays due to 'rona. The holidays are often times the only chance I get to connect with relatives, and they are often split with the in-laws. So sometimes we'll go 4 years without seeing certain family members, and that's without an occurrence like 'rona. I'm sure there were people in the same boat, wanting to see family again.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Yes indeed it was an inclement day. Snow and I think I remember it was only 2 or 3 degrees above zero when I headed in. I remember being dressed pretty heavy anyway….but enjoyed the day (except SDSU victory).

Edit: Just checked box score and it was officially 1 degree above with 5-15 mph winds. And that didn’t slow down the Zenner kid from SDSU.

The traffic cones the Cats put out on D didn’t slow down Zenner either! ](*,)

In fairness, the Cats didn’t deserve to make the playoffs. I think the 7-4 season might have had a lot to do with the attendance too.

How about the home games against New Hampshire? Stoneybrook? Sammy?

Those weren't 1st round games. 2012 Stony Brook was 15,257 and SHSU was 16,417. 2018 UIW 1st round was 10,017. 2019 Albany 12,947 and Go Pee! 14,017.

With the way the weather currently looks for Saturday I'm going to guess 14k+

You included Furman, which was "Round of 16" which is the same as the "2nd round" today. FWIW, 24 teams is too many. There aren't 24 playoff quality teams in FCS. Might make some of those 1st round games more entertaining & sell more tickets.

There were 20k +/- fewer people in Bozeman, 40k fewer in Gallatin County, and 5k +/- fewer students at MSU 15 years ago. Also, that was the first home playoff game in 22 years so attendance was probably artificially inflated.

14-15k seems about right.

Considering that the Furman game was several years before the end zone expansion...Maybe "inflated" is the wrong word. Comparing apples and oranges is another.

The end zone added 5000 seats5 or 6 years after the Furman game...maybe BECAUSE OF the home playoff game. At any rate, 9400 fans in a 12,000 seat stadium means the Furman game was 75% attendance. The Albany game was more like 60%...SDSU more like 40%

10,000 vs UIW in 2018
7,700 vs sdsu in 2014
9,400 vs Furman in 2006
2014 SDSU game was in a pretty serious blizzard which kept quite a few fans from traveling.

Sammy?
Was that the year Prukop played with a hurt knee?
Yes...it was also very cold (even for MT standards) and a blizzard happened near the end of the game where Chad Newell darn near led us all the way back. We almost recovered an onside kick but ended up falling 47-40. Defense was non-existent in this one.

I remember thinking that with a healthy Prukop MSU likely wins.

Main thing I remember about that game was the drive home in the snowstorm
