Oline in 2022
I know we still have football in front of us this year but I am curious how the people close to the program see our Oline next year. We seemed to have taken a step back this year having lost 2 excellent players from the 2019 team. Now we will be losing 2 more 4 year starters. Can the Oline actually improve next year or do we have a year or two of growing pains at that position?

I wouldn't say I'm "close to the program" but my stab is:gtapp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:30 amI know we still have football in front of us this year but I am curious how the people close to the program see our Oline next year. LT: Rush Reimer / Jacob Kettles
LG: Zach Redd
C: Justus Perkins
RG: Cole Sain / Joe McElroy
RT: TJ Sessions
Young group - and I wouldn't be shocked to see MSU hit the transfer market.

Absolutely will seek out at least two players, maybe three to add depth at a minimum and compete for starting spots. Vigen isn't going to take any chances and risk having an OL that is a liability.Bozcat003 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:33 amI wouldn't say I'm "close to the program" but my stab is:gtapp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:30 amI know we still have football in front of us this year but I am curious how the people close to the program see our Oline next year. Transferred to JUCO in California - maybe wanted to be closer to home - too bad lots of potential. I think he would've been the #2 LG on the roster (Right now Holden Sampson holds that spot I think)

I do think this group is a great start, but I think augmenting via the portal will happen. Loosing Tua & Lewis in the same year.....ouch.

Re: Oline in 2022
The 2019 OL didn’t sustain any significant injuries. Continuity is the key. MSU has good linemen coming up. It’s just a matter of getting them cohesive. Keep in mind Wood transferred in June, 2021. MSU did pretty well all year despite injury to Sain, up until Session got hurt.
Good core group with Session, Perkins, Reimer, Redd. Kettles by all accounts is very good.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Pretty sure he was going to be the starting LT when Wood left - but then got an injury. Hopefully, all healedTomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 1:40 pmThe 2019 OL didn’t sustain any significant injuries. Continuity is the key. MSU has good linemen coming up. Sure wouldn't mind Dylan Rollins missing home and coming to MSU

I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of transfer O-linman, a D-lineman or two and a linebacker.

Glad we got a guy with an NDSU background and Choate was the same way, and they both know that in order to be successful program year in year out is to have not only good o and d lines but good depth as well…then have players with elite speed on both sides of the ball, then get good play from the qb spot.

I haven't seen any recruits yet that have made me go yeah this guy is going to keep us reloaded in the locker room. We will see it will be tough to fill Choates shoes as he had some contacts that also helped. I don't see many drop downs from Wyoming coming to Bozeman

I think the former OC at NDSU knows a little about O-Lineman.GrizgradCatFan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 3:47 pmI haven't seen any recruits yet that have made me go yeah this guy is going to keep us reloaded in the locker room. I could see these 2 being immediate contributors next season, maybe even starters.

Can’t say that I think Taco would make the best O lineman.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 4:22 pmHow about Taco Dowler and the dru polidore...?GrizgradCatFan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 3:47 pmI haven't seen any recruits yet that have made me go yeah this guy is going to keep us reloaded in the locker room. Re: Oline in 2022
If Rollins entered the portal, we better do anything and everything to get him to come to Bozeman. He would have been a 4 year starter after redshirting a year had he picked MSU. Kid is a stud.

Probably be a 2 year wait. He hasn't went on his mission yet.
