A few more things to consider here. UT - Martin has played against 2 top 50 defenses this year (#48 Go Pee! #42 Eastern Illinois). Missouri State is 60th, they just have a good run D. Their pass D is 89th. In the games against EIU and Go Pee! UT - Martin had their lowest coring outputs of the season, 28 and 17. Howard if he plays is going to be hobbled so the QB run game won't be as great. The Cats are 7th in the country against the pass, and 19th against the run. UTM is going to have a tough day offensively.
They are 44th in total D, in a bad conference. 64th in pass D, 34th in run D BUT 46th in YPC against the run @ 4.14. Their D has given up less than 20 points just 3 times this year. 10 against 3-8 Northwestern State (scored 20 or less 6 times this year). 16 against 6-5 Go Pee! and 3 against 3-8 TN Tech (scored 20 or less 7 times this year). I don't think offensively we will have too many issues against them. By the time it's all said and done I expect 250+ on the ground. It may be close-ish in the 1st half but we will win by a few scores and run them into the ground.
Great post.
I would also add that AP and EIU are going to have inflated defensive numbers even at that because their games are primarily against weak OVC offenses.

And I lied. UTM is actually 65th in YPC against the run, right in front of Eastern. I think we will be just fine running the ball. Just for a frame of reference Idaho is 33rd in YPC against the run, and we ran the ball very well against them when Ifanse and Elliott were still in the game.

Yeah this is going to be a romp.
Missouri State probably thought the same thing, and got beat. Cats still need to show up and play well.

Good thing for all of us is that me being really confident =/= the MSU Bobcats being really confident.
Sat and watched UTM vs. Tenn Tech, this team is good. Lots of FBS drop downs. One kid on defense left Bama to play for these guys. Howard looks like what I thought McKay would be like since he had playing experience with NC State. He is good. We better be ready to go or this team could make us look really bad on our home turf. I still think if we come to play though, we win by 20.
I watched this one and his presser before the Missouri State game. I am really impressed with this coach. He has that team playing the right way, and I guarantee they will play us hard on Saturday. I don't think they have the horses to go toe to toe with us the entire game, but if we don't play really hard, smart football and hold onto the ball... put it this way, we don't want them to be within striking distance at the end. I'm still sticking with my 28-13 score but would not be surprised if it's closer than that.

Ditto that…seems to be a pretty down to earth guy and builds a good team culture. Sounds like this particular team has a real bond and chemistry. Our guys do too….but as you noted we better be ready to play. Thanks for sharing the video.

You might as well copy & paste that for the rest of the season. It’s the playoffs, of course they need to show up and play well. I don’t see why we’d be concerned about them not showing up.
