PSU sucks.

Did we all forget what the Griz did to them this spring?

PSU is not good. But they’re not Drake/San Diego bad either.
Throw in the fact that it’s a road game at a place that will have next to no energy in it, I don’t see a landslide win.
A comfortable win, yes, but not like we’ve seen the last couple weeks.

Yup. Talk about a 180 in terms of game-day atmosphere to go from the raucous confines of Bobcat stadium to PSU's home field, which isn't even in the same city or county, and that borders a freeway. Yuck.

griz fans; keeping it classy and gracious in winning since ... well, never.

I seem to remember that PSU had a lot of starters injured or sitting out last Spring when they played the griz so I don't put much stock into that game.

This Fall,, PSU got beat by Hawaii by 14 and Washington St by 20. These games should better represent the strength of PSU.

I don't disagree. But I think in general terms fans tend to put a little too much weight in the energy they bring to the games. Obviously I love what we have, and it's certainly a factor. I'd take our fanbase and gameday over nearly every other FCS team in the country. No doubt the team loves the energy we can bring. But we have bigger things to worry about this season if our players can't get up for a conference game because of little to no energy in the stadium.

We are a very good team. PSU is a very average team. Very good teams should handle their business regardless of lackluster energy from fans on the road.

You would think, but as we've talked about before, for whatever reason PSU seems to play well in their play-up games and it doesn't translate into wins in the Big Sky. A few seasons ago they only lost to BYU by 14 and Oregon State by 3; before eventually going 0-11 that year. In 2019 they only lost to Arkansas by a touchdown before that 5-7 season.

I just haven't seen anything from them to suggest a team with our kind of talent should be in some kind of dogfight with them. If we are, it will change my thoughts on our own team a little bit.

PSU is a little hard to figure.

They played reasonably tough against Washington State, and then struggled against D-II Western Oregon.

It's always hard to pin down teams that have played up and down, but no one on their actual level.

I'll take a stab: 38-21.

Montana State Universtiy - 47
Portland (isn't a) State University - 17

Interesting first three games for PSU. They score 35, 24, then 21 against FBS, FBS, and D2 respectively. Either Western Oregon put up a heck of a struggle for PSU or PSU scored A LOT of garbage time points against their FBS opponents. Who knows?!

Many thought last weekends game would be a trap game of sorts and would guess some will say the same for the PSU game with stadium energy rivaling that of a wood carving competition. Only way I see the energy level changing at the stadium is if Barnum ups the anti and starts paying to add cocaine to each persons beer he's already gonna pay for. Cats traveling with a limited number there won't be any 3rd/4th string guys coming in so PSU doesn't score as many garbage time points. PSUs scoring drops again with the Cats bringing all the energy with this being the first conference game for Vigen and the Cats. The good guys get their first victory of many to come on the road this season.

Cats -- 42
Rioters--23

Patterson with 3 TD catches

Hardy with 2.5 sacks

PSU OL John Krahn (#71, 6-10, 395) scores on a tackle eligible play in the 3rd quarter, tries to dunk the ball over the goalpost in celebration, and brings it down. This forces a 50-minute delay to put the post back up. Hauck is credited with 3 tackles during the delay.

48-14 Cats

The FBS games weren't as close as the score. Hawaii, who isn't very good, was up 42-14 mid way through the 3rd, and Wazzu was up 37-10 late in the 3rd. They looked anemic with a DII school last week. I think we roll.

Listened to Troy mention he has not won a big sky championship, it's his last attempt. He will bring the energy.
