Troy's first offensive play of the season has to be the first play in Cat-griz, right? Bobbie's spent two years preparing for it so it wouldn't be fair of us to not give him a chance to show off his defense.

Troy, ifanse, McKay and a triple tight end set?

If I had game balls to give, Troy's INT gets one, Okada's INT gets one, and Okada's post game interview definitely deserves one. But, if I only had 1 to give it has to go to Manning on that INT. There is effort, and then there is what he did on that play.

I loved that the first play after half-time was Ifanse's rumble to the San Diego 1 yard line. That'll teach the tailgaters to get back in time ;)

MSU's defense needs to practice some sort of hook and ladder play where Troy comes around behind any interception and gets the ball given to him to finish. I'm only sort of kidding.

How about Jeffrey Manning on this play? Doing his best DK Metcalf run down impression. Talk about hustle.

Holy cow! =D^ Looked like everyone else was standing still he ran so fast.
There’s a great problem there for Monday’s math class. If Ty Okada can run with a speed of V, what is Jeffrey Manning’s speed?
2(V)
Well, just doing the math.

If Okada caught the interception with about 4 seconds into the play and he traveled the 72 yards to the end zone in about 9 seconds. That's approximately 16.36 MHP all the way to the end zone and about 15.14 MPH to the spot where Manning blocked the quarterback. Manning was on the 20 yard line when Okada caught the ball and he traveled about 45 yards in around 5 seconds. Manning was running about 18.41 MPH. That's just a quick peek at the video and using the play clock. I may be a bit off on the yardage. Oh, Okada also had a momentum shift on the play, so he started from almost a dead stop and Manning was already moving in that direction.
Now here's a post you would NEVER see on eGriz.
=D^ =D^ =D^

I like it when they make these type of high lights with just the crowd noise.

Can you see why some would want him as te or wr in NFL? Would destroy the corners.

Think is pretty cool that the video starts off with TA staring down the QB in the background as well. Well done...hey, touchdown!

Some thoughts.

Ty Okada is a real key to this 4-2-5 defense. He can play towards or away from the LOS, like a linebacker and like a safety. He really makes it difficult for opposing offenses to take advantage of the personnel. If he was a safety who couldn't play up, they'd be susceptible to the run. If he was a linebacker masquerading as a safety, they'd be susceptible to the pass. He's really leveled up.

The offense on the whole was great, but I am little concerned with the quality of the running game, especially when the ball is handed off to the backs. The QB's found some room, and obviously Ifanse opened the 2nd half with a huge run, but during the first half it didn't look like the OL could get much movement. This was case against Drake too. Just something to monitor.

Yeah, the run game has not been as impactful as everyone expected... they have not been bad, just not dominating like 2019. Connor wood is proving to be a big loss.

Having 2 “freshman” starting is worth noting... the run game should only improve as the season progresses, as they get more experience.

The run game hasn't been great, but we are running a different offense with different formations and often fewer blockers than 2019. We pretty much never ran the ball with the 5 O Lineman blocking and that's it. We have done that often this year. Even one TE wasn't super common in 2019. 5 or 6 blocking 7 or 8 is really tough. I will say I hope Cole Sain gets healthy soon because Zach Redd has been struggling. I watched him specifically on quite a few plays Saturday and he was just getting flat beat a lot.

In the Wyoming game Sain and Perkins were playing together, and they were doing better. Redd and Perkins are both a bit undersized. Hard to have a lot of that, I think.

It hasn't been so much a numbers issue to my observation, as much as a failure at the POA.
