The Good:
Gold Rush was back, baby!
Passing game came alive

The Bad:
O-line run blocking was suspect
Troy played well, but his talents are not being fully utilized in his current position
Point after kicking has got to improve; kicks are starting way to low
The Ugly:
R.J.'s injury

Re: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly - Drake
The Good: That was so much freaking fun. The whole event.
The Bad: The only bad thing about the BAC is the prowl as we knew is gone forever. It just doesn't have the same impact having the team go by in track suits way, way early. Everybody's too sober at that point.
The Ugly: Our video board really looks bad. Very faded and much too small by today's standards. I'm sure an upgrade is in the works.

I had the same thoughts about the Prowl. Not as much excitement. Maybe it will get better, but not the same as having the guys walk by in full pads and fired upBelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 11:43 amThe Good: That was so much freaking fun. The whole event.

I would say Oline is a major concern moving forward. Not so much the next month, but they are WAY behind the 8 ball when it comes to holding up to UM, Weber, or a second round visit to a MVFC team.Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 11:21 amThe Good:

Meant to type R.J.; damn phone keyboard!

I’d say it’s too early to give a fair analysis on troys new position and role... give it a couple more games.
He also should have had an INT (right in his hands), which he prob would have taken to the house... his overall performance would have looked a lot different had that happened.

The Good:
The whole-field American flag. Spectacular.
The rodeo team riding onto the field - never gets old.
McKay's pinpoint passing. Best we've seen since DeNarius.
McCutcheon. He is clearly McKay's favorite and is looking like a big game receiver early on.
Glessner. Sure his XP's need some height but this kid looks good.
'Cat D. Especially Hardy and Okada.
The Bad:
RJ's injury. Very unfortunate but his inspirational effect on the team will be there whether he is on the field or not. He will be back.
1st half rushing. Drake had us bottled up.
The Ugly:
Students throwing T-shirts on the field. Stop it. It tarnished an otherwise spectacularly boisterous effort by the students.

Good:
DE play
Offensive balance
James Campbell playing well
Hardy on STeams, lighting guys up
So So:
O line inconsistent
My jury is still out on Beer Garden
Old guy sitting behind me who knew everything and bitched about everyone else.
Ugly:
Yellow shirts being thrown on field
Willie’s back flip— selfish
RJ’s elbow injury

Yes was getting very annoyed with the yellow t-shirts being thrown on the field by the students.
Rest In peace dad.

In regard to RJ‘s injury besides the obvious looking bad, what an impressive kid. He has been completely unselfish and plays his tail off since he’s been here. And even while he’s being helped off the field pumps his helmet in the air for the fans and players to say let’s go Cats!84CatGrad wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 12:15 pmThe Good:

I think the strategy of “Let Ifanse get hit at the line of scrimmage & make it up with yards after contact” is suspect against good teams.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 12:24 pmWe ran fine against Wyoming. We ran “fine” yesterday too (4 yards per carry, exactly the same as against WY)…but we lost last week. Unless the Oline play improves, it’s going to be a long painful slog through Ogden, Cheney, Missoula, and Fargo/Brookings in November & December.
When it was ‘fine’ against a good WY front 7, that was one thing…but when that becomes a pattern, it’s a point of concern.

Re: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly - Drake
4000 students, about 5 shirts that hit the field, I laughed when they said it can't be a penalty. I know that is true, but how do you know which teams fan throws the items.
Good. McKay, Patterson, McCutcheon, Okada, DE pressure.
Bad. I thought Campbell got beat several times, did we switch to zone in their drive right before half, didn't really like pregame events (fewer fireworks, singer average, in field events seemed around wait for and add them rushed to get done, looked like first game in 2 years with new staff
Ugly. Fitzgerald injury, Drake offense thru first half until last drive

It’s pretty difficult to block more 6 when you have 5, or 7 when you have 6. They sold out the run, so we passed. I wouldn’t be too worried.onceacat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 12:34 pmI think the strategy of “Let Ifanse get hit at the line of scrimmage & make it up with yards after contact” is suspect against good teams.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 12:24 pmWe ran fine against Wyoming. I would say that so far, everyone runs fine against Wyoming. NIU put up 244 yards on the ground against them yesterday. Turns out, running against Wyoming is fairly easy.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 12:24 pmWe ran fine against Wyoming.
