I was looking over the game stats and believe they have a small error on the defensive stats. On the bottom line it shows #10 Body Grebe having 1 assist. During the game I definitely saw number 10 be in on a tackle. The problem is that I thought I was watching Kenneth Eiden IV make that tackle.
The roster has #10 being Kenneth and #11 being Brody. If they have changed numbers it would be nice if the roster was changed to show that, but if the assist belongs to Eiden it ought to be changed in the stats report. I have no idea who would be the person to contact on the football staff so I'm hoping someone here does and can get the correction made.
Brody switched to 10 for the road game. Colter had tweeted that prior to the game starting. Home games he'll be back to 11. One of our primary pass rush packages was Amandre moving inside next to Chase with Daniel and Brody. In all 11 defensive lineman played on Saturday.
Thanks Vim
I don't do twitter so I'll just have to be in the dark when these things happen.
I really wish number changes had a cap on them. Like...they can switch once during their career. Would make life easier on all of us!

question-

who is in charge of tracking the bobcat record books on the MSUbobcats website, I have brought this up every year since he retired... but The Career All-Purpose Yards list is missing Cody Kirk (see snapshot below from the website). Cody had over 3,400 rushing yards along, not including receiving or return yards... which would put him in 5th place at least. Any help here? who updates this? is there an email of someone I can send a note to... this one drives me nuts, I see it every year and bring it up every year, and it never changes.

All-Purpose Yards ll-Purpose Yards
1. 4,453 Shawn Johnson, 2011-14 (1450 rush, 683 rec, 2320 ret)
2. 4,179 Ryan Johnson, 1999-2002 (3646 rush, 471 rec, 62 ret)
3. 3,917 Everett Gilbert, 2009-12 (2182 rush, 386 rec, 399 ret)
4. 3,722 Rob Tesch, 1989-92 (32 rush, 1920 rec, 1770 ret)
5. 3,270 Tony Boddie, 1979-82 (2449 rush, 792 rec, 29 ret)
6. 3,259 Delmar Jones, 1975-78 (2819 rush, -6 rec, 546 ret)
7. 3,205 Steve Kracher, 1972-75 (2979 rush, 40 rec, 186 ret)
8. 3,194 Corey Smith, 2000-03 (18 rush, 1150 rec, 2026 ret)
9. 3,191 Don Hass, 1965-67 (2954 rush, 69 rec, 168 ret)
10. 3,089 David Pandt, 1982-85 (1104 rush, 1275 rec, 710 ret)
I'll see that this is addressed. Good catch. He has 4,079 rushing/receiving yards at first glance. I don't see anything showing that he has any return yards.

updated from Drake.

-I think we will see Lance push for several Top 10 season lists in different receiving categories. Yards, receptions, TD's... Looking to have a big year!

-same with Mckay, I think he will make a push for several top 10 season lists as well- pashing, total yards, touchdowns, completion %...

I predict Blake Glessner breaks Jan Stenrud's record for longest FG in program history. 59 yards by Jan vs. UM back in '65.

Only if it's during the cat jizz game and we win by 30 and this is the final play of the game.

There's Flagstaff at 6,900 and Cedar City at 5,900. That kick at Wyoming would've been good from over 60 easily. His kickoffs vs. Drake were all deep into the endzone. I can see a situation right before halftime where they might turn him loose.

55 years later Jan Stenerud's record still stands. I'll bet there are a couple out there who knows who the holder was that day.
My answer is solid gold. I'll wait a while to see if we get the right answer. It likely will be a bit of a surprise.
Anyone? Anyone?
I'll take a wild guess and say Dennis Erickson
That's a great guess, Dennis was the quarterback on that team #14. The holder, #18 was Joe Tiller's younger brother Marvin. He was recruited
as a quarterback and wound up playing cornerback. He passed away prior to Joe.

updated from San Diego.

-Troy and Ifanse moved up a couple lists.

I expect to see a lot of players on a lot of single season top 10 lists as the season moves along. Lance on some receiving lists, Mckay on passing lists... Especially Hardy, I think he will push for Big Sky player of the year honors on defense (I frickin love this years defense BTW, they are lights out). TFL and Sacks, hardy will be right there toward the top of those league highs.

Tomcat- i have a research question for ya (if you are up for it)-

Longest INT return, top 10 list... I was guessing that Okada might be flirting with that top 10 list after the 72 yard return... below is what I am showing on the MSU website. It only shows the top 6... any chance you could dig up the next 4 spots? Okada might make it?.....

Longest Interception Return
1. 100 Rob Pouliot vs. Boise St (TD), 1988
2. 97 Joe Roberts vs. Rhode Island (TD), 1984
3. 89 Mike McLeod vs. Idaho St (TD), 1979
4. 82 Jim McLeod vs. Montana (TD), 1959
5. 80 Sam Moore vs. St. Ambrose, 1958
6. 80 Sean Hill vs. Eastern Wash.(TD), 1992

The Okada TD was the fourth longest in stadium history. Records don’t indicate much in early years, so it’s unknown on being in top ten all-time.

Sunday notebook says it was Ifanse’s 12th 100-yard day.

so after the Wyoming game- the sunday notebook said Ifanse now has 9 100 yard rush games.

Then after the San Diego game- they say 12...
https://msubobcats.com/news/2021/9/19/f ... -2007.aspx

I'm no mathematician. but something does not add up there... :-k Can someone confirm???

I have been doing this "Record Watch" for like 10 years now on Bobcat Nation, and the one thing I have learned is that whoever is in charge of the record updates at MSU is pretty terrible at their job.

A Bobcat record of note is 1982 1st team BSC linebacker Jim Kalafat's 202 tackles. That's an average of 18 per game! His 1983 single game 30 in a win over Nevada is also a record. His 1983 178 is the second all-time single season record and he was again the 1st team All BSC middle linebacker. Amazing career. Is he in the Hall-of-Fame yet? He may have played for three different head coaches??? That likely ties a record.
