2021 Bobcat Record Watch

A Bobcat record of note is 1982 1st team BSC linebacker Jim Kalafat's 202 tackles. That's an average of 18 per game! His 1983 single game 30 in a win over Nevada is also a record. His 1983 178 is the second all-time single season record and he was again the 1st team All BSC middle linebacker. Amazing career. Is he in the Hall-of-Fame yet? He may have played for three different head coaches??? That likely ties a record.

And he didn't even lead the Big Sky that year... he was significantly behind Robbie Hauck.

Sunday notebook says it was Ifanse’s 12th 100-yard day.

so after the Wyoming game- the sunday notebook said Ifanse now has 9 100 yard rush games.

I'm no mathematician. but something does not add up there... Can someone confirm???

I have been doing this "Record Watch" for like 10 years now on Bobcat Nation, and the one thing I have learned is that whoever is in charge of the record updates at MSU is pretty terrible at their job.

My guess it’s probably ten and that’s a typo. I’ll go through all the games on bigskyconf.com and figure it out.

as mentioned, I think several players will be pushing for several Top 10 Season lists this year... specifically Ifanse, Mckay, Lance and Hardy. Once they start to get closer to a top 10 list I will post it.

If McCutcheon keeps up this pace, I would think he'd finish pretty high in single season records.

Ifanse now tied for tenth in 100-yard games. Barring injuries he has a very good chance at breaking this record.

A healthy Ifanse could be over 3,000 yards rushing by the end of his season and over 4,000 by the time he's done.
