Yeah I get that. Makes me curious to see if he will remain committed. He is posting a picture of just him and the entire coaching staff. Maybe it’s just my take but seems a bit in your face after recently committing to a program.

Committed, hasn't signed a NLI, may get more NIL at Boise.

Re: Taylor Marcum Commits
Boise is recruiting him as a WR. Not sure why people think he’s going to hold up physically at 6’ 180, and those are his HS program measurables.

Re: Taylor Marcum Commits
I would think he could get a NIL in Bozeman from all the out of state people and money in town. Maybe a scarf company, sandal company, holistic live off the land company, or a group of wives that want to be part of Montana can sign him.Montanabob wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 8:46 pmCommitted, hasn't signed a NLI, may get more NIL at Boise.
If your left, you aren’t right.

Re: Taylor Marcum Commits
Good for him if he gets a scholarship offer from Boise State. If not, we get a good all-purpose back.

Re: Taylor Marcum Commits
Why wouldn’t they be? Did MSU pull his offer afterward? He hasn’t signed a LOI so he can visit wherever he wants. Could push MSU into offering a full scholarship. Good use of leverage IMO.

Sure, they’re “allowed” to, but it’s pretty tasteless...bit of a slap in the face to the coaches and school you said you’re committed to. Probably committed early to secure a spot here but is hoping to go bigger, which is probably what Boise is doing to him...slow playing him in case they don’t land players higher on their board.

Completely agree. No question the recruit can do whatever he wants. My issue is more with the twitter post and the perceived optics. In a perfect world, promote the chosen school and help recruit your future teammates. If a better offer presents then a decision must be made.ND0479 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:29 amSure, they’re “allowed” to, but it’s pretty tasteless...bit of a slap in the face to the coaches and school you said you’re committed to. Re: Taylor Marcum Commits
Its just recruiting. These are 17 to 18 year old kids. I doubt they are perceiving this as a mistake and highly doubt they would want to throw shade at MSU. They are caught up in a flawed recruiting system. Until the NCAA allows recruits to sign whenever they want, this will happen.ND0479 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 5:29 amSure, they’re “allowed” to, but it’s pretty tasteless...bit of a slap in the face to the coaches and school you said you’re committed to. Re: Taylor Marcum Commits
MSU in the past has both signed recruits that previously committed to other schools and lost recruits that previously committed to MSU. If this young man withdraws his commitment, then it’s nothing new or unusual.
Heck, the Cats have recently lost a recruit or two to other schools after signing day.

These are kids. Just like anyone, they ought to be able to find a better fit for them. I doubt the coach of this program loses too much sleep over all the ones he has decommit.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Sorry. I laid on the sarcasm pretty thick as I am surprised by other posters outrage at a verbal commit VISITING a FBS program, especially in their home state. It literally happens every year and the recruit has every right to do so.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 2:31 pmI’m guessing Vim meant to say “aren’t” not “are”PapaG wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 10:22 pmWhy wouldn’t they be? Based how dialed in you are on recruiting and how it works, I should have noticed it was sarcasm.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:19 pmSorry. Can't blame the kid if he takes an offer from BSU. As another poster said, it is a flawed system and we have been the beneficiaries of similar circumstances a number of times. We will be fine

The best advice a person can ever get for recruiting is to not worry too much about 17 and 18 year olds and their personal decisions. If I were committed to Carroll, and MSU invited me to come visit, you bet I’d go! Why not try to do the best for yourself?
