CNFR Champions
Not football related, but the rodeo team has been a big part of msu football game day.
MSU women’s rodeo team finished 1st at the CNFR. The team was led by Paige Rassmussen (Flint’s daughter) who won the women’s all around. Pretty damn cool.

Very cool! I knew the women had a shot at winning. Glad they did it!! Cool about Paige as well. Were there any other individual champions? Looks like I need to update my signature line...again!

The Lyman brothers both played football at Montana State and then did rodeo. Dick was on the national championship team in '76. Rod was a little younger, I think he only played one or two years.RickRund wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 7:30 pmI remember a Rodeo Cowboy in the early 70s that played DT for the CATS.Montanabob wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 5:00 pmDidn't we have a football player go out for the rodeo team how did he do?

Re: CNFR Champions
There have been multiple former players that rodeoed at MSU after football or during their football careers, Ty Erickson, Jake Vold, Cort Sheer, and last year Jobman joined the rodeo team for a bit when the football season got cancelled. Both Folsom brothers rodeoed when they were playing as well.

He didn't. I don't think he played in HS. He was a good HS hoop player.wbtfg wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 9:20 pmI didn’t know Ty played football for the cats.Hi-Line Bobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 9:12 pmThere have been multiple former players that rodeoed at MSU after football or during their football careers, Ty Erickson, Jake Vold, Cort Sheer, and last year Jobman joined the rodeo team for a bit when the football season got cancelled. Rod Lyman was a very good steer wrestler and went to the NFR several times.

Beau Clark steer wrestled after football, did well. Looks like he is the University of Wyoming's Rodeo Coach. http://www.uwyo.edu/rodeo/coaches/Hi-Line Bobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 9:12 pmThere have been multiple former players that rodeoed at MSU after football or during their football careers, Ty Erickson, Jake Vold, Cort Sheer, and last year Jobman joined the rodeo team for a bit when the football season got cancelled. He was a beast on the DL, Belgrade has produced some great players.

The one I am thinking of would have played probably 72 and 73 maybe. I can never remember his first name. Last name was maybe Karnagy. Is my memory bad?
