If you think Pluto and ESPN+ are the same quality, I have some ocean front property in MT to sell ya.

ESPN+ is hands down higher quality with real time speed vs. Pluto. ESPN+ is not as good as a live broadcast but it’s pretty close. Hopefully ROOT and the local channels will still pick up most of the MSU away games.

I've always had a good experience with ESPN+ and glad the conference made the move. This is also good news for us cable cutters who didn't have access to ROOT. I was envious of the MV and ended up watching a crap load of their games just because they were available and Pluto didn't have any BSC games active.
Well as it stands now, ROOT will be unchanged, you still won't be able to watch the weekly game of the week on ROOT, which will likely include Cat/Griz. Like someone else said, ESPN+ is simply replacing PlutoTV for streaming.

I asked Leon if the OOC games would still be PPV on MSUbobcats.com

The Trail Blazers are moving to Root sports next year. I'm thinking this may result in a streaming option for Root. There are a lot of Blazer fans without cable and are complaining about the lack of a streaming option for Root. Keep our fingers crossed and hope this prompts Root to offer a streaming option.

Root already has a streaming option on their app. Unfortunately for me, they do not have an arrangement with Charter Spectrum for their subscribers. You can actually stream right now if you are Direct TV or a number of other cable consumers.

I’ve had ESPN+ for several years, initially so I could watch some of the MSU Women’s Basketball OOC games. I’ve ended up following several other of my favorite teams, and have watched a lot of games, mostly basketball. Not one problem with receiving the streaming. Most schools in the other conferences, and even some of the Big Sky schools like NAU, UND-while they were, have much better production and play-by-play than a lot of the Big Sky schools. Hopefully peer pressure will move us forward, but I will say the Big Sky has picked it up since you could actually see the players and the ball on PlutoTV! ESPN+ will give the conference much better exposure as they’ll be right there on the menu with the other conferences that don’t have their own networks. PlutoTV was simply unknown even to some MSU fans — I introduced it last year to two friends that I used to work with at MSU and they had no idea.

Update: I forgot to mention that ESPN+ archives games almost immediately after they have concluded. No more trying to explain hit-or-miss watchbigsky.com to everyone asking about on demand.

Now that ESPN+ is a pay service, do the Big Sky schools profit in any way? I certainly hope they do. Even a tiny cut could be pretty useful.

Yay! Now that's what I want to read. Buzzwords are great for press releases but details are truly what we need. Put some standards and money behind this and improve the broadcasts.

Several have commented about the games on ESPNU, but 2 football and 1 men's basketball is not much. With so many networks it would be nice to have at least 1 men's/women's BB game per week. Then we have accomplished something on a more national scale. Getting coverage on stations in your normal lineups rather than a separate fee based channels. Hopefully that comes in a few years

I have AT&T TV, and for whatever reason their Audience channel used to broadcast the Root game of the week. That channel is now gone. Does a know of another way to get Root outside the Northwest?

According to ROOT's website, it says it's the "AT&T Sportsnet" channel on AT&T TV.
