Because I think it would be shady and hypocritical from somebody who really disliked the transfer rules. Again, this is just a hypothetical if Choate was involved. It’s very likely he wasn’t.PapaG wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 4:43 pmHow would that be Choate’s fault? A chance to graduate from one of the top public universities in the USA and a chance to play P5 footbal at a traditional power is a no-brainer if that opportunity presents itself to Connor Wood.
Can’t blame Wood or Choate if that’s what ends up happening.

All in all, I can’t blame Wood. I hope he goes well wherever he goes, and I’m glad he got his degree here.
I still hate this. Shutting down last fall is having large ramifications on the FCS level.

This is very disappointing but if he is doing this to get his MBA funded then it makes sense. University of St. Thomas here in MN just moved to FCS. An MBA from St. Thomas is equivalent to one from Wharton or Harvard now days. If he ends up at a great business school like St. Thomas it all makes sense. But if ends up at Idaho State then not so much!

A little shocked, starting OL, looking to transfer. I can see and understand a 2nd or 3rd string guy looking for more playing time. This leaves a big hole in our Oline. I bet he'll have plenty of offers, plus a chance a getting his MBA. Selfishly I don't want him to leave, given the situation all these players are in, it opens up a lot of opportunities. Good Luck Mr. Wood.

Shocked? Really? 2 star coming in and leaving as a 4 star? I'm betting he is a NFL draft choice soon, not a signed non-draftee.FTG247365 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:46 pmA little shocked, starting OL, looking to transfer. MSU doesn’t offer an Masters in Business. At least they didn’t when I graduated 30 years ago and then had to get my MBA in Missoula. As long as Connor doesn’t wear the dark pink, I am 100% supportive!gtapp wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:38 pmThis is very disappointing but if he is doing this to get his MBA funded then it makes sense. Re: Wood in portal
Anymore I feel like the FCS is just a farm league, top talent seems to rarely stick it out an entire career... kinda sucks.
With that being said, I believe these kids should +1,000% be able to make these moves wherever and whenever they want. It’s their education and their college experience...
So I certainly do not have the answer or solution.

Normally you'd be right. But currently, for probably the first time ever, the Hoosiers football team is really good, and their basketball team sucks.
There's the truth, and then there's what's reported in the papers.

Re: Wood in portal
It boils down to what is best for the individual, not the team. I agree with the posts that the FCS is becoming a farm league for the FBS. One reason I have enjoyed FCS is because it is not poisoned by the huge money that the FBS is. GIven the fact that Wood has already received his degree, I am fine with him doing what he is doing. If he had NOT graduated, I wouldn't like it. If you are a dominant player on the FCS level, there will certainly be opportunities for making it to the NFL. One risk of jumping to the FBS is, given the competition, you may end up getting lost in the shuffle.
For example, remember when Dakota Prukup was tearing it up at MSU? Sadly we had no defense in those years, but he was putting up huge numbers. Then he transferred to Oregon and I don't think he achieved any success there.
