Damn that sucks. Right when we had all the pieces in place for a championship team.

Edit: If he does leave, is Ioane ready to take over?

It is crazy that Choate has only been here for 5 years, and I am having a hard time envisioning MSU football without him. That is when a true change in culture has occurred.

Completely agree. He really altered the future of this program for the better. He isnt gone yet...we just have to wait and see.

I'm sure Choate is a bad interviewer. We've got nothing to worry about

Well, first and foremost, I hope for the best for Choate. He’s been a great coach here and has earned a shot somewhere bigger.
I think we all know it’s when, not if, he’ll be leaving.
Selfishly I hope we have him for another 2 or 3 years. But if not, he’s been a great part of Bobcat football.

I do think there will be some pretty impressive resumes going after this job too. I don’t think he’s a long shot, but I don’t think he’s a front runner for the position either, we’ll just have to see how it plays out.

So, as some of you know, in very rare circumstances I have what they call “sources”. This, is one of those rare circumstances.

With the caveat that college football is crazy, and things change faster than Usain Bolt, here’s what I know.

Andy Avalos, DC of the Oregon Ducks, is the leading candidate. If he declines the job, we as Bobcat fans should be very nervous. Very nervous.

This concludes my time as an insider. Merry Christmas ya bastards!

Absolutely, but Avalos has the better resume and has ties to Boise. Plus I think he’s younger.

If his son graduated college this spring, maybe. I don't think he is done here. He still has at least two more years here, if not 5 more. And he wants a nati.
Say no to this....

I tend to feel the same way, that he’ll be here a few more years while his son is in college and on the team.

BUT, the Boise State job is probably one of the few that would pull him away from here earlier than that.
Big raise, go back to a place he has history at and is his home state...
If he gets that offer, he’s not saying no.

Harsin was getting $1.3 million BASE at Boise.

Choate isn’t going to turn that down, even with Jory playing here. Nor should he. Boise is a great opportunity.

Would Choate be the first coach to leave MSU by being hired by a bigger school since Judy Spoelstra (WBB) way back in the early '90s? That's pretty crazy and shows that MSU hasn't exactly hit it out of the park with many of its coaching hires until Choate and Binford - and hopefully Sprinkle in a few years.

Great move for Coach, bad timing for us. It could be very impactful if he were to go. Losing coaches and possibly players isn’t a good deal. I would say it is the one job he wants really bad.
