Its all academic at this point, since all fall sports everywhere are likely to be cancelled in the next week...But why would MSU/Dixie play.
Players would use up a year of eligibility for a single game. I can't imagine a dumber thing to do.

Given the current trends & refusal of Americans to follow basic medical advice, thats only going to happen if there’s a vaccine.Common Cat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 8:19 pmI really doubt we will see any football until a year from now.

Yes, amongst other things. People being allowed to travel. Businesses open. Sending kids back to school. High school sports. People going out....onceacat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 9:40 pmGiven the current trends & refusal of Americans to follow basic medical advice, thats only going to happen if there’s a vaccine.Common Cat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 8:19 pmI really doubt we will see any football until a year from now.
Cases are going to happen. This month. Next month. In 6 months. Are we really just banking on a miracle vaccine before we open to the idea of getting back to living life?
I don’t like those odds.

Without getting into who’s right and who’s wrong: there is a critical mass of people who will refuse to follow basic medical advice. So, until there’s a vaccine, this thing is going to spread unabated.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 10:51 pmYes, amongst other things. People being allowed to travel. Businesses open. There’s also a critical mass of people who will be held liable and accountable for the stupidity of the last group. Those people are overwhelmingly in charge of our local governments and institutions. (Jeff Choate, Waded Cruzado, and others).
Until the first group gets their heads out of their asses, the second group won’t let things go back to normal and the rest of us don’t get to have nice things.
Group 1 f**** up football for the rest of us. Thanks. Hope it was worth it!

That was kind of my point OAC. I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, but like most things virus related I don’t see how it can be proven. You seem to think this thing has become widespread cause we have a bunch of idiots running around partying without masks. And while that may be the case for some, how can we know this is the main cause of the virus here?onceacat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 11:06 pmWithout getting into who’s right and who’s wrong: there is a critical mass of people who will refuse to follow basic medical advice. I’m of the belief cases were ALWAYS going to go up once we opened the economy back up and people were allowed to work and do business. I think cases are going up because people from all over the country are traveling all over the country. You can’t drive a block in Bozeman without seeing 15 different plates from Texas, Arizona, California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, etc. I assume this is the case everywhere.
I think cases are going up because people are once again allowed to go to church, weddings and funerals. Large gatherings of people from different areas happening all the time.
I think cases are going to go up big time now that school is back in. Many schools are going to in person instruction, including colleges all over the country. Did kids JUST now start getting this virus, or have they had it all along but they’re just now getting tested? Are we opening schools assuming no one will be infected ever? Or are the schools opening with a plan in place for when kids inevitably become infected?
Why is it safe for schools and colleges to be open for business but athletics are too dangerous? And why are some people so convinced that cases are rising because of incompetence or risky behavior, and not just because people are getting on with their lives, working, going to school, and traveling?
It seems impossible to me to say definitively the virus is spreading because of A, B and C......

We know, because we can see it working for the NBA. There’s nothing inevitable about the botched response in this country.

Europe's Top Health Officials Say Masks Aren't Helpful in Beating COVID-19
Denmark boasts one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates in the world. As of August 4, the Danes have suffered 616 COVID-19 deaths, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.
That’s less than one-third of the number of Danes who die from pneumonia or influenza in a given year.
Despite this success, Danish leaders recently found themselves on the defensive. The reason is that Danes aren’t wearing face masks, and local authorities for the most part aren’t even recommending them.
Edit for Link:What’s Going on With Masks?
The top immunologists and epidemiologists in the world can’t decide if masks are helpful in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Indeed, we’ve seen organizations like the World Health Organization and the CDC go back and forth in their recommendations.

Personally, I take all the medical advice I can gather before making health decisions. I have to ask why would Socialist Countries allow this object freedom, while those that want to take the USA to socialism won't? The answer is rather simple - there has never been a country moved off of freedom to Socialism/Marksism/Statism by telling the truth!

Re: Dixie State
Rece Davis from College Gameday had a pretty passionate couple minutes speech on moving the season to the spring. I'm paraphrasing here but he said unless you can find me medical professionals that think playing 18, 20, 21 football games in less than a calendar year is safe for athletes, then don't talk to me about player safety ever again.
He cited studies on concussions and other injuries and the time needed to rest up between seasons as the main reason that playing a spring then fall season would be "irresponsible". He also mentioned that most coaches don't even run full contact drills, much less tackling drills in the spring and yet whomever thinks playing 2 seasons in less than a calendar year is a good idea?
He also said draft prospects aren't even going to play in the spring.
Football isn't happening again untill fall 2021.
