Ifanse in Wildcat
Against UM he had five carries for 62 yards and 3 TDs (38, 3, and 17). Did he take any snaps out of the Wildcat prior to that?

Not prior to, but he threw a touchdown out of the wildcat against Austin Peay.

It was really a great move. Hauck prepared all week for our linebacker to play quarterback. He was probably pretty dumbfounded when he saw not just our quarterback playing quarterback, but also our running back taking snaps!

It was clever on Choate's part. He didn't run Ifanse out of the wildcat until the second quarter. First carry was for five yards, next one was a 38-yard TD. I also liked how they lined up for it. Rovig came out of the huddle in shotgun as usual and with Ifanse directly behind him, then he moved to his left and Ifanse stepped into his spot.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 8:53 pmIt was really a great move. It was indeed a brilliant move. The entire game plan was a thing of beauty!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 9:11 pmIt was clever on Choate's part. Even Better is that DumB knows we run the wildcat, were expecting the wildcat, and still couldn't stop it.catsrback76 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 2:57 amIt was indeed a brilliant move. Re: Ifanse in Wildcat
The simple pre-snap shift of Rovig right/left of 3 feet really threw them for a loop. Especially since Rovig was still calling the cadence - they kept focusing on him as the signal caller, even though he never got the ball. Depending on where each defender's eyes were looking pre-snap (motions/gaps/etc.), they may not have even known that it happened.
The pre-snap shift was VERY close to not being set for a full second before the snap, but it was.
It was a simple, but highly effective adjustment. Kudo's to the staff for installing it!

Totally agree. When we were already destroying them on the ground in the first quarter with Logan and others... I kept thinking, OMG and they haven't even seen a fresh Ifanse yet - this isn't going to end well for them. It didn't.catsrback76 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 2:57 amIt was indeed a brilliant move.
