So if its going to magically disappear here after November 3, will it disappear in Brazil too? Just asking for my Brazilian friends...

No spring football, are you living in North Korea?

Apparently the ACC, Big 12 and SEC are optimistic, we’ll all be watching those games in a few weeks wondering why are team isn’t playing
That’s kind of the point some of us are making. If the virus is still too big and too scary for us to play football now, even without fans, we’ll likely be in the same boat in January when teams would start practicing. To be clear, I think we should be playing right now. I applaud the conferences playing. But the fear and overreaction will still be prevalent in 4-5 months because this virus isn’t going anywhere. And when cases arise, like they will, we’ll be right where we are at this very moment. North Korea if you will....

I won't say you're overreacting to what you perceive as people overreacting, but that's a pretty negative thought you have there.

Seven different teams of researchers are currently in Phase 3 of testing. If they get past that test, they'll be approved. The expectation earlier was to have something ready by December, but things have progressed faster than expected. Another 15 are in Phase 2. Vaccines are expected to be widely available by mid-summer 2021, but available to at-risk, essential groups sooner. I believe athletes are in the at-risk groups. I find it promising.

Oh without a doubt it’s negative. I don’t deny that. But it’s based on what I’ve witnessed for months.

Like i said though, maybe sports will be like the business closures. We have way more cases now than we did when we shut down schools and businesses and for some reason this time around we’re good with schools and businesses being open. Maybe in the spring, even with as many cases as we have now, someone will say enough is enough and they’ll try to play.

But with no end game in sight, and headed into flu season, I just think we’re really banking on a vaccine being a miracle. It’s not about whether we will be ABLE to play in the spring, it will be about whether or not the virus is way better then than it is now. I don’t see concerned people being much less concerned in January is all I’m saying.

You're a high maintenance sports fan, my friend! I think a better way to look at it is the people you perceive as scared were, in your opinion, scared easily. Perhaps they're just as easily influenced going the other way. They might just get their hopes up easily, too. You should look at it that way for the next three months or so. ;)

Great, we don’t have enough other covid threads in the forum so we turn a simple roster update thread into one.

I think that no football in Spring will be as much about the logistical and financial problems as it is COVID. Practicing in Jan and Feb without an enclosed facility ain't going to be productive at many schools. We can't even get productive Spring ball practices in March many times.

At the FCS level, a Spring season means no money games against FBS teams. Those money games are the only way many FCS teams fund their programs.

The short amount of time between a Spring season and Fall camp is insufficient to really heal up for many players.

Finally, I don't think that the powers that be will risk playing a gimmicky Spring season if it in anyway could jeopardize losing a second Fall season.

IMHO, a Spring season is being "planned" to pacify fans, at least at the FCS level.

Does Zambrano transition to safety at his size?

Not sure. I thought the same thing though. Getting Jeffrey Manning and Chacho Ulloa as transfers bolstered the position and the hope is that they will be fighting for starting spots with Ty Okada. But I know they still really like Ty in the slot against certain opponents so Kane still definitely wants three safeties who can start and/or be on the field at the same time like last year. They still have Luke May in the mix as a veteran presence/special team ace, James Campbell has moved over from WR, and they really like what they've seen in Rylan Ortt's development. The rest of the safety room gets rounded out by Rfr. John Knight (who transitioned over from QB), Fr. Connor Ryan, and Fr. Jake D'Agistino (who I think will eventually become an OLB).

The starting corners are Tyrel Thomas and Greg Filer but Zambrano may be the third guy on the depth chart. Might be needed more on the outside too.

It’s funny looking at that old 1984 highlight film and seeing Joe Bignell listed at 6-4, 240 and just looking huge compared to the other offensive players. Ryan Davis is a tight end listed at 6-3, 265. Just amazing how much bigger athletes are today. Some high school linemen are now over 300lbs.

There is some serious young talent in that room, just not game experience yet. Ryan and Ortt is going to be a good ones.

It's very bizarre to me that the griz never showed any interest in Ortt. He really wanted to be a griz, his dad played for them in the 90's and their whole family have been season ticket holders for decades. It's puzzling that BH made a huge production out of signing Montana kids when he was rehired but ignored Ortt.

They're now all diehard 'Cats fans. Our gain.

Where is Level Price Jr. on the depth chart? I saw him playing quite a bit last season.

Where is Level Price Jr. on the depth chart? I saw him playing quite a bit last season.
Here is how I rank the corners on the roster:

1.) Tyrel Thomas (Senior)
2.) Greg Filer III (Senior)
3.) Eric Zambrano (Sophomore)
4.) Level Price Jr. (Sophomore)
5.) Tyler Bohannon (Redshirt Freshman)
6.) Kendric Bailey (Sophomore)
7.) Max Lenzy (Greyshirt Freshman)
8.) Miles Jackson (True Freshman)
9.) Devin Davis (True Freshman)

Throw in the fact Ty Okada will play a bunch of nickel and we have a solid 5. As usual with corners in the Big Sky, young corners are going to get an opportunity to contribute early.
