With the benefit of hindsight, our response should have been more focused and consistent with policies more like Italy, Spain, and Germany.
Or Japan, S. Korea... Or just about anyone. We're currently 9th in deaths per million, but many of the countries worse than us have pretty much ended it and it's only a matter of time before we move behind them. The others are just tiny and the numbers are skewed.

But Italy, Spain were both ahead of us in getting hit hard. Had we just followed their post-peak policy, this wave we're in now wouldn't be happening. These are just after the fact things. I won't get into the preparedness and guidebook that was thrown out and vacant bureaucratic positions for things like this.
I am not real up to speed with what Italy, Spain, Germany, Japan or South Korea did. Can you elaborate on the difference with our response?

Spain - 7 week lockdown, Italy lockdown. Both countries responded poorly early, but are now down to 1 and 13 deaths yesterday.

Germany - https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/05/ ... ronavirus/

S. Korea - massive testing, contact tracing. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archi ... et/611215/

Japan - might've had some luck, but they bow instead of shake hands, high standards of hygiene, have low obesity rates, are accustomed to wearing masks, have universal healthcare, remove shoes. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ ... oronavirus

Who is TDS?
Do not know alot about them. Company is based in Wisconsin. A growing telecom company. They are also BendBroadband. Close to 1.5 million subs. They are now adding quite a few subs here in the CDA area.
Ate they a cable company like Spectrum it is it a streaming and/or satellite service?

They are a full fiber internet, tv and "landline" phone. Everything is done by streaming. They use a fiber nic that ties into a router. They have three packages 300 download/300 upload, 600 download/400 upload and a 1gig download/??? upload... VERY fast. Several different tv packages... Looking forward to when they begin installing, probably 3 months or so away...

We just signed up for a new internet/ tv provider here with SUPER fast speeds and they carry Root Sports NW. Figures that there may not be a season after doing that...
Tia. Which provider do you have? I keep hoping for an announcement that Root will stream their programming.
Our provider now is Spectrum but we have a small a la carte package (streaming) that does not carry Root. We will most likely go with a full fiber system with TDS. Their intro package will be a 600/400 and a 125 channel tv package.

Root does have an app for streaming if a person has the "basic Root channel" but it looks like it has not worked for a while. The reviews on the app store give it a 1.2 which sure as heck is not a sterling review.
Thanks for your response. We used to subscribe to Directv, so we had Root. However, the monthly fee that we pay for Hulu, is about half the price that we were paying. The only channel we miss, is Root. We love having all the different apps with our Firetv. We watch Bobcat Football over, and over on YouTube. 😀

Not much difference from their average of 6800 fans per game last season.

Ouch!

But this is a good sign for MSU football. At least its better than the CAA news earlier...

Well, I’m sure they are desperate to come up with some cash to pay Paulies crazy salary.

There's a lot of talk about when the fall season is cancelled that teams can still play in the spring. Is this narrative just to try and keep fans' hopes up and delay the anger/disappointment of a fully-cancelled season?
Does anyone really think the COVID situation is going to get better over the winter or that the miracle vaccine is going to be ready at scale?
Does it make sense to anyone to play football in the spring and then come back and play in the fall?
It would be nice if someone would just come out and say "If there's no football in the fall, there's no football period. Here's why."

Agreed about the whole move football to spring garbage. Anybody who really thinks having a spring season, that is even close to normal as far as player reps and games played per player is concerned, is either crazy or doesn't understand the physical toll of the game. Having a spring season then a fall season would be reckless in my opinion.

The idea probably hasn't died because sports media needs content so they can talk about all kinds of hypothetical scenarios. If they just came out and told the truth they'd have nothing to fill their radio time and/or articles with.

The move to spring seems far-fetched based on what I’ve seen of this virus so far. We’ll keep requiring masks, maybe even keep schools closed. Bars and restaurants will close early. Then in a couple months the numbers will be way down again and we’ll stop doing these things. The weather will be freezing and we’ll be smack dab in the middle of flu season. Numbers will go up, people will panic. They’ll ban family get togethers for holidays and go back to mandatory masks and business closures. Many will be furious while the rest will say it’s the right thing to do and the only choice we have.

I think if people have their way and no football this fall, we’re dreaming if we think people will be ok with it in the middle of flu season.

If they opened up attendance to anyone that felt healthy enough to attend and could pass a temperature check at the gate I bet there would be fewer fans in the spring than in the fall.

Go back to the other thread. Let's at least try to keep this one related to football.
