I'm not knocking TA, I was just saying that what surprises people about his speed I think is how big he is(linebacker body). But I just don't think we've had the Florida track kind of speed on the team, like Watson from NDSU and what SHSU used to have in spades. Wish we could have seen TA against NDSU and then maybe we could have seen how he stacked up. Probably help if he wasn't always nicked up too.

We did see how TA stacked up against NDSU...in 2018. He literally out-ran the NDSU defense for one touchdown.

But I completely see what you're saying and I agree with it. Team speed has been an X-factor in every playoff defeat MSU has had since 2010.

Was there any press at the signing day thing last night?

I’m hopping to hear what Choate has to say about each recruit

Bottom half of this article has some quotes from Choate on the new arrivals.

MSU signed, and yes I know stars don’t mean everything, 11 3-star and 5 2-star players, of which one was the Montana GPOY. Also got a GPOY out of Wyoming.

MSU now has five GPOYs on the roster. Snell (Alaska), Ifanse (Washington), Steel (Wyoming), Mellott ((Montana) and Coon (Wyoming).

He looks really, really, good. Have I mentioned he ran a verified 4.5 at 190 lbs? There's a good chance for him to get up to 210 with excellent speed. Plus, you have to love those genes! Fwiw, he had a walk-on offer to UCLA, despite only getting 45 carries his JR year. That's impressive, a real late bloomer. We just don't get guys of his size and speed at this level often.

This past year in HS, he ran for 1136 yards in 125 carries. 9 yards per carry!!! For the entirety of his varsity career, he averaged 10 yards per carry. He has next level speed.

If you look at his stats game by game, there's one game where he only got one carry (I'm assuming injury), but after that, every game was 100+ yards. One game where he got 200+ yards on 3 carries. In all of the games but two, he has a 20+ yard run. Heck, in all the games but two, he had a 30+ yard run! In all the games but 3, he had a 45+ yard run. He just screams explosion.

Another thing I really like about him and Elliott, is that they both have good hands coming out of the backfield. Those swing, or flare, passes can be destructive to a defense when going to a RB with speed and size.

Those are Shawn Johnson high school numbers. I remember he averaged something like 9-10 YPC in high school.

Choate did say he thought he was a late bloomer because his family is a baseball family...basically they didn't understand football and the process of getting to the point where you get recruited. There are so many good players in this class but he seems like a bit of a sleeper.

After watching Olivo’s highlights..... he might be my new favorite now. (I think I have said that about like 10 different recruits, ha)

this dude looks like he could be a big time player.

Plus a Wyoming GPOY RB who runs angry.

We're gonna have to make a PSA that we can't chant out his name for goal line carries. I mean, we wouldn't want people to think we're Green Bay fans. That would be embarrassing.

The names may change, but we still have a TA style player (or two) in the backfield.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Like I said earlier, I see Coon as Chad Newell version two with a little more speed!

From Egriz "Recruiting Central"

"Minaya Olivo and Elijah Elliott both to msu, why the hell msu needs 3 3 star RBs is beyond me".

Because we do.
They are “concerned” about our running backs because they know they cannot stop them. They should be “concerned.”

The 247 national ranking on our new specialist.

#1 Punter
#8 LS
#19 Kicker
Kind of funny. Peyton Hogan from right in Bozeman is #22 and goes to Oregon State. Tommy Sullivan #23 comes to Bozeman from Washington.
