It won't be Choate.

There is no way they hire somebody without any OC, DC or HC experience at the FBS level. I could see a guy like Craig Bohl taking over, especially since a lot of Pac12 teams are putting more emphasis on defense, similar to Utah and Oregon. He has shown he can win in 2 of the crappiest places in America. I'm sure he can do it in Pullman too. It's a more desirable location than either Fargo or Laramie. If they want to run a similar offense, then a guy familiar with the Pac12, like Graham Harrell makes sense.

I'm not saying Leach is a bad coach either, but he finished at Wazzu with a .500 conference winning %, and is 7-8 all time in bowl games.

His style is fun and innovative but it doesn't win big games.

I think i agree, but i also think if they call, he's taking that interview. You'd have to. A more likely path to choate not being here next year (ugh) is harsin taking the wazzu job and choate getting the Boise job. I still think he's a year or 2 away from a job like that but it's not impossible.

Getting to that many bowl games with mostly 2* and 3* players means you’re always going to be at a talent deficit in a P5 conference.

And how well did they do in those games before he got there?

Bobby Petrino is available.
Yup, I heard he could jump on his motorcycle and after a short stop for some volleyball practice, he could be there in no time.
...and they could stay at Paul's place...
Petrinos on the Palouse! I like it.
Are you talking about a motorcycle shop or a Volleyball Camp?

Make sure the coaches kid gets to play scenario too. You know, destroy your own career but be loyal...

Probably is mostly true, but i wonder what it would look like with elite talent? He's always been at places where he had to use "the system" because he's been at universities most consider "have nots" in their respective leagues. Mississippi state is another of those to a degree, but there may be enough talent in the region for everyone. I think SEC defenses are fast enough at all levels where an air raid type system will struggle but it'll be intriguing to watch. I think leach, because of all his nonsense and idiosyncrasies, is probably underrated. This will be a good test.

If you have a subscription to The Athletic and have not read this article about Mike Leach, do yourself a favor. It's maybe the funniest piece I've ever read.

Sounds like Rolovich is in Pullman now and there is a lot of chatter surrounding him about the job. Choate name was introduced by one reporter. From what I am seeing the rest of the media reports are listing other candidates but since Choate was mentioned his name has carried to other reports including a do not hire report. Many media members have Baldwin as a more likely possibility from the Big Sky but he is also way down the list. There are quite a few more desirable and proven candidates on the lists. Regardless anything is possible and relationships with administrators etc all play a part but I am not sure there is real or mutual the interest but we will see.

Now what happens if he decides to go with Andersen and our NCS transfer next year? Troy gets 20-25 carries a game and destroys our school rushing record and Infanse gets 1200 yards? They win 12 or 13 games and we'll have to read the constant pizzing and bitching about not throwing it downfield and the poor play calling... I can't wait for the Spring NCAA Convention to see all the musical chairs on all the coaching staffs.

Does this even make any sense? Is Choate not at the AFCA convention?

The reporter was trying to state that Choate was already in Pullman by looking at the airline routes. But he was trying to wrap it in with Choate leaving the AFCA convention for the interview. The route he retweeted was from Henderson Executive Airport (Las Vegas, NV) to Bozeman, MT. Then Bozeman, MT to Pullman, WA. However, the AFCA convention is in Nashville so I'm not quite sure why Henderson Executive would be involved in this equation he laid out. Seemed like fishing to me.

But...a Pac-12 HC job is one of the few things Choate would leave MSU for. I don't think he would get it but he's more of a candidate than most on this board want to believe.

All it would take is one really good interview. I'm hoping he doesn't get one for at least a couple more years.

Sorry CatGrad, I read your post three times here and I'm still not clear on your overall message, points you're trying to make? Can you please state this differently for the slow people in the audience? :)
