Mike Leach leaving Wazzu for Mississippi State. Opens up a lot of P5 assistant jobs in the NW.

Wow! I did not see that coming whatsoever. It will be interesting to see how WSU moves forward. That has to be the most difficult jobs in the Pac-12.

Interesting move for Leach. The SEC is a defensive conference and he wants to take his pass happy offense and maybe we will play some D philosophy there? He'll be gone in 2 years.

Of our coaches, which of them might get stolen as assistants with all the dominoes that may fall now?

I could see Choate going for the DC, or even possibly HC... although they were burned bad by their last Big Sky hire.

Would not be surprised if Choate applies. He should, IMO.

Does Choate have a connection to Leach? If so, is it possible Choate gets offered the DC job at Miss St?

Wazzu once hired Weber State's head coach (Mike Price), so that worked out for them once upon a time.

Would he do that? A few people that sounded like they were fairly well plugged in said he wasn't going anywhere until Jory graduates...

He’s not going with Leach. Leach is a scandal waiting to happen. Wears out his welcome everywhere he goes. Choate only coached with him for a year. Mississippi State is a dead end.

WSU will have its sights set much higher than Jeff Choate, especially after the disaster that was their last hire of a Big Sky Head Coach.

Choate only coached linebackers with Leach for one year at WSU, so I also highly doubt the connection there would be strong enough for him to be taken by Leach to MSU-South as his DC.

Wazzu will be looking for another big name. No way they go back the FCS after Wulff.

Who wants to coach in Pullman? What Leach did there after being slandered by Craig James and hired by Wazzu is the best it gets for them. Graham Harrell, maybe, from USC applies and there is basically an entire staff to be filled.

There is no way WSU would even give Choate a passing glance as HC.

Depending on who they hire, I could see a possibility of him being considered for DC.

And you recall Dennis did okay there too...Price was Dennis' high school coach, right? With both Alabama and LSU changing their offense, I surprised that MSU went back to someone like Leach.

I think Jay Hill from Weber has a shot at head coach. Maybe even Dan Hawkins from UC Davis who also had success while at Boise.

Another possibility is current Boise State Coach Bryan Harsin. PAC 12 is a big step over Mountain West.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could hang onto our coaching staff for a few years? I hate having to reboot our program just when things are starting to get good.

On the short list is Alex Grinch...

The AD was somewhat surprised. He mentioned how Leach was always an open book. How just over two days ago he THOUGHT that everything was great. Then BANG, Leach said he was leaving...
