Yep, it was basically over at halftime. Griz were down 20 points and Thomson was completing passes at will.cats2506 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 5:16 pmthey were down 15-42 with 5:18 left in the 3rd quarter when he went down, I don't think that you can use that as a valid excusecoochorama42 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 4:51 pmThe Griz were on the road. I think they didn't mean to have MSU in there twice on the last one. Probably just four teams. Would have to be.
MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: Who gets the Big Sky Automatic bid?
Maybe, but I doubt it. MSU is just one-two spots behind Weber right now. A win over No. 3 should vault them over Weber. That's just how this stuff works with these selection committees. Both 9-3, but Weber isn't hot and MSU would be considered smoking.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 3:52 pmNo, they just need to win. Bobcats have 2 FCS loses, both in conference. Weber has 1 FCS loss. The auto bid has nothing to do with how badly you beat someone. 3 teams can finish with a BSC record 7-1. Weber, Sac State, UM, the best the Cats can so is 6-2. All 3 would have to lose and even then a myriad of tie breakers come into play, none of which favor the Cats.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 3:28 pmI agree ISU is a dumpster fire, I’m not so sure Weber isn’t also. They looked like the Keystone Kops on Saturday and were almost as bad the week before when they escaped with a win over UND.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 2:56 pmWeber only has one loss at the FCS level and in conference play. They play Idaho State this week who is... and I can't emphasize this enough... an absolute dumpster fire right now. Almost no chance of the Cats being the number 1 seed.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 1:55 pmMore important than the autobid is being the top team from the BSC.
Since UM won last weekend, it makes for a good situation for MSU. A win would jump MSU ahead of both Weber and UM. SAC isn’t a lock vs rival Davis.
So a Bobcat win and SAC loss puts MSU in as top seeded team from the BSC. Had UM lost to Weber that wouldn’t be possible.
Weber would get the autobid, but they need to pour one on ISU to stay ahead of MSU, if the Bobcats beat UM soundly.

Re: Who gets the Big Sky Automatic bid?
Hmmm.... that's what i said to start the post, with an explanation of why those are the options and in a lot more words! The tweet leaves it to everyone's imagination. I am going to breakdown all the seeding and playoff position options tomorrow in a separate post. Generally, most people understand there is some fluidity to our position if Cats beat the Griz. There are additional factors that have not been mentioned that may lead us to a seed or better seed. I agree there is almost no chance of not getting a seed if Cats beat the Griz. However, there is a possibility of getting the dreaded #8 seed which I contend is worth avoiding.

So what you're saying is:
If I play the odds, SACRAMENTO has a 50% chance of being the conference auto bid.
Weber is the safe bid.
And Montana State is the money bid to screw up DumB's chances at the autobid.

Re: Who gets the Big Sky Automatic bid?
I’m not so sure that Idaho State can’t beat Weber with the shape Weber is in right now .
Wouldn’t surprise me if UC Davis beat SS even with Kevin Thompson back .
Montana State wins. Ends up seeded number five
Best scenario.
If MAU does not take care of business on Saturday still a possible seed but unlikely

Its a rivalry game
ISU can still put up a strong passing game
Weber looks to be wounded especially in the secondary, also their Offense which has not been great, is missing people too.

One of the sites already has DumB as the BSC auto bid. So Happy when we win this weekend.Montanabob wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 12:23 amSo what you're saying is:

Objectively, we are the underdogs in this game, even at home. So it doesn't surprise me that playoff prognosticators have UM as a top 4 seed.Montanabob wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 11:43 amOne of the sites already has DumB as the BSC auto bid. Weber is beating ISU this weekend. This feels like when some people on this board predicted MSU losses to SUU and UNC. UM is an elite FCS team as is Weber. Weber 45-10.

I agree, but Weber is depleted after the Griz game. But they shouldn't need hardly any of their starters to beat a hapless ISU team, but stranger things have happened.coochorama42 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 12:26 pmWeber is beating ISU this weekend. Re: Who gets the Big Sky Automatic bid?
Sac losses wouldnt matter....the losses that would matter are the Cats losing to UND and the Griz would be loss to a highly ranked MSU both on the road.cats2506 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 5:16 pmthey were down 15-42 with 5:18 left in the 3rd quarter when he went down, I don't think that you can use that as a valid excusecoochorama42 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 4:51 pmThe Griz were on the road. Cats 2 losses Sac at home and to UND.
That UND loss jacked up so many things

Re: Who gets the Big Sky Automatic bid?
I did say that losing to Sac State at home is worse than losing to them on the road, but I do think that the UND loss (for MSU) and MSU loss (for UM) in this case would be the more problematic. That being said, I'm confident now that the Cats get a seed no matter what. Like @Catprint though, I'm not sure this is a good thing if it's an #8 seed...

Re: Who gets the Big Sky Automatic bid?
I agree it's extremely unlikely. If MSU lost a close one to the griz, and several teams in that 5-8 range lost big, or to bad teams, then I guess maybe it could happen.BadlandsGrizFanAgain wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 1:18 pmYou think the Cats get a seed if they lose to the Griz? Re: Who gets the Big Sky Automatic bid?
@BadlandsGrizFanAgain @91catAlum Sorry guys. This is a little out of context. Earlier in the thread I'd indicated that I wasn't sure that Cats were 100% sure to get a seed if they beat the Grizzlies. I was responding to that. Even though Sam Herder seems to think there is a small chance the Cats get a seed if they lose to UM (Villanova, Wofford, and Illinois State would have to lose as well and MSU/UM would have to be close), I don't think so.
