Run game

Post by TomCat88 » Sat Nov 09, 2019 8:29 pm

For the second time this year MSU has run for the third most yards (451 today; 449 vs. Norfolk) in a single game.

MSU had six runners average 9.0 yards per carry or more. Not counting the fake punt run, MSU had four players (Jones, Sumner, Marshall and Tullis) combine for 28 carries and 321 yards. 11.5 a carry.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

It was nice to see a return of the WR fly sweep. Marshall and Patterson looked good there.

Any updates on our top back Ifanse? I’m worried that without his style of running we are going to struggle against the griz.

He didn't travel to UNC today.

Also, Jonsen didn't play. He dressed but took the week off.

I would guess they'll both play next week after resting this week.

If Ifanse can still red shirt, he should.

That's too bad cause he's probably only taken 20 snaps this year.

Is there a reason we have not seen much of him until recently? Was he hurt or something? Seems like a pretty solid, impactful player...

Seems like there was something going on with him like an injury. I seem to recall Colter saying that. He tweeked his hamstring (guessing) today, but came back and caught a pass later and looked OK. Maybe he had a hamstring injury earlier?

There's nothing more satisfying to me as a football fan than watching my team run the ball at will.

I think his redshirt was officially burned on the one single play he was in against Sac State. ](*,)

Which will be frustrating if he's done for the year, but if he can come back and be a factor against UM and in the tournament, then it doesn't matter.

Is there any chance he can red shirt? Didn't he participate against one team with 0 carries? I have to believe though that they are holding out for either Davis or UM to give him one last chance to heal up.

If ifanse doesn’t play again, can he apply for a medical redshirt??

Played for sure vs TT, SEMO, Poly, SAC, ND. Despite not playing these past two games I don’t think there’s any chance the coaches have been planning to sit him out the last two games.
