That's a great question. 2002, 2018, 2019 have to be the top 3, but in what order?

It's really hard to erect an episode with these childish replies.

2005 was a top one for me. Just a tough year for our team and they found a way to get it done that week.

Having lived through the streak 2002 to me will always be the most gratifying.

That 2005 game will be the most bittersweet to me. End of the Lulay era (with no playoff berth afterwards) and really the last time Evan Groves was a difference maker. Injuries just derailed his career.

I think the order has got to be 2002 (streak breaker - nuff said), 2018 (most improbable), 2019 (utter domination and pure elation). All were such very different games, too. Hard to compare them. I will say that 2019 was the best of the 4 home cat/griz wins this century.

Anyone have a rebuttal to that order?

A big reason this year's game was so gratifying was because of the streak and some of the blowouts in those years. That makes breaking the streak the most gratifying. This year is a great second though.

I'm not sure I would put 2018 in the top 3 most gratifying. It was an incredible game but I might put 2003 ahead of it because we broke the "home game streak". From Corey Smith's KO return to the near zero temps to rushing the field, I'll never forget that day. Last year was largely gratifying because it was a definitive Choate-style win. Never give up, keep grinding and take advantage when things break your way.

I agree with your second paragraph. The 2018 win as a whole was not as gratifying to me as this year because by all rights, the Cats should not have won that game. There were fortunate breaks that helped. Had Sneed’s 4th quarter fumble been ruled “down” on the field, review probably wouldn’t have overturned it. Probably over 90 out of 100 times, um punches that one in. Don’t get me wrong, The Stuff will go down one of the all time great moments in the rivalry and I’m forever grateful that I was there to see it. But the win wasn’t as gratifying as this year. This year just filled the soul of this Bobcat fan. There was no “Cardiac Cats” moment or lucky bounces that anyone can say gave the Cats the game. It was pure domination from first whistle to the last. That is gratifying to me.

2018 was gratifying because it was Bobby Hauck, and it was a heartbreaking loss for the Griz. But not even as gratifying as the Furman playoff win, or the UNH one.

We both picked this year simply because neither of us really lived through the streak as Cat fans. I imagine if we started college in the late 80s or early 90s that would be the case, but we both started in 2001 so ending the streaking, while still easily the #2 on this list, didn't compare to Saturday where we've just been craving a butt whooping against the Griz, the Griz were the #3 ranked team in the country, we knocked them out of hosting all the way to the semifinals, and what takes it over the top is again, it was against Bobby Hauck.

I think we are all talking post streak as being the modern era.

I picked 2018, we wern't supposed to win, we got behind 22-0, they mounted a comeback and were practically assured victory. Our boys fought hard and pulled it out in the end with hard work and a little gamesmanship. It vaulted us into the first playoff appearance in the Choate era, but the heatbreak of the griz fans is why I rank it as high.

It's a tie between 2002 and 2019. Can't beat the streak breaker, but at the same time how many times have most of us said in the last decade, "man I really wish we could just destroy them for once!"

2002, easily. Was at the Cat-Griz alumni party in Portland and we Bobcat fans who lived through The Streak went absolutely bonkers after the game. The younger fans had no idea and the Griz fans there (easily 10-1 in radio for 300 people) mostly were happy for us. Best game at a bar I’ve ever experienced.

Alright I've got 2 questions:

1.What do you think has been the biggest change that took our defense from good to great this season?
2. What is the oldest piece of Cat gear that either of you have?

Go Cats!

My opinion is the defense was good but over exposed early in the year due to our offenses inability to maintain drives and put teams in a situation where they were predictable. Our slow starts on offense put undo stress on the d to be perfect instead of aggressive. Just my opinion.

Biggest wins I’d go Streak ender, 2019, 2018, Colorado.

When I watch Austin Peay, it is like watching a mirror image of the Cats...given that who wins this week?

It's a combination of that, and Josh Hill getting healthy and solidifying the weakest level of our defense. That kid is a stud as a player, as well as a leader on the field and gets everyone in the front 7 lined up correctly. He'll be one of our biggest losses this off season.

Troy Andersen, after 5 weeks off...does he play?

I don’t know the full extent of his injuries as none of us do but from what I interpreted from Coach Choate a couple weeks ago he might return since that none will require surgery, just time to rest and heal. So with that, has he had enough time to get to get healthy enough to dress and to throw another wrinkle into the game plan?
