What percentage of let’s say MSU or UM fans do you think gambles on the FCS? Just curious.

Probably not very high right now.....but it will go up after legalized sports betting kicks in in Montana. I know they're shooting for it around Jan 1. They were trying to get the rules in place by FB season, but that didn't happen. So I would bet (pardon the pun) that next season there will be a good number that play around with it.

I wish I knew the history better, but didn’t sports betting get out of control a bit in the early twenty century? I guess I just don’t want to see issues with the legitimacy of game outcomes.

I pick

Portland State
UC Davis
Cal Poly.

Bet I get more right than Colter this week.

Two bets this week on my side.

MSU (pk)
EWU (+7.5) -- I see the Griz winning this one, but EWU will cover.

I keep reading about the lines coming from 5dimes but the only ones I see when I go there are FBS lines. If you google search for “FCS betting lines” not one single link actually has FCS betting lines. Has anyone actually seen these lines?

You have to go under the "college extra" section

Newbie question here. Is it legal and/or possible to go online and place bets if you live in Montana? A few years ago I tried to open an account on 5 dimes and they kicked me out because of my Montana address.

The short answer is it is legal, as far as I know for you as an American. It's just that the offshore joints won't even let you on because it's not worth the hassle of dealing with our government. Maybe using a VPN would help, I really don't know. I don't gamble but I am interested in following the lines and spreads.

All of this got started when the Supreme Court in a case ruled that the laws surrounding sports gambling were in violation of the 10th Amendment. It made it a state issue. So now each state on a case by case basis is voting to allow or keep illegal sports betting. Montana passed legalized sports betting this spring during the 2019 session. It will be run by our state lottery and it sounds like we will only be able to place wagers in gambling approved establishments, no website or app. My guess is it will utilize those Mt lottery kiosks we see in casino's, sport's bars etc. The plan was to have it up a running for this football season but it seems like that isn't going to happen.

As far as 5dimes, Mybookie and all those offshore bookmakers, they were and still are, illegal. They are not sanctioned by any state yet that I know of and only exist because the internet is the wild wild west. I'm not sure why you were kicked off. Were you at work? Those sites make it hard to get paid and it is getting harder to get your money to them. Bitcoin is really the only 'safe' (I mean that loosely) way to move $$ in and out.
