^This

Plus, Choate already believes he can crack the special teams units.

Not like Jaharie needs a year in the weight room either.

I mean, I guess I get if they want a short yardage package for him...but I don't like this at all.

Even if he isn't going to break the depth chart at LB, keep him learning the position for a year.
He is. Being a short-yardage back isn't exactly hard. Plus, Jaharie is a bright kid so I have zero problems with making his skillset more versatile.
Perfect, that was my hope is that it wasn’t a permanent switch from LB. I was hoping for a redshirt year from him but if we have a glaring need for a short yardage power back I’m all for it. If he is a top player for us there and in special teams I can get behind not redshirting him.

As long as he's predominantly with the LB's on the practice field, I'm good.

Good stuff. No games with the players. I love the straight up approach.

I'd be pissed if I was Harrington's Pepsi. Sponsoring games and here coach is drinking a dasani? A Lehrkinds coke product? Give that man an aquafina or mt treasure!

Yeah, if he can help us here then take it. I would prefer redshirting him as well. I'm fine with this decision, but I hope he gets some touches each game. The 4 game rule is where I would like to see Choate use him. However, he fits a need right now but in a year or two he should hopefully bring it at LB.

No way he was ever going to redshirt simply because he’s a special teams beast.

Something few people are taking into account is that the scrimmage was live. That may have been good for running quarterbacks, like Andersen and Murray, but it didn’t play into Rovig or Bauman’s hands. Had they been wearing red I think Bauman’s numbers would’ve been slightly better, which would probably make a big difference. I don’t expect very many quarterbacks will do much better than Bauman did today.

Had his receiver just caught the one pass that went off his face mask (a catch receivers make at least 90% of the time), he would’ve been 7-11-1, 87? yards, one TD. That’s a passer rating of 141.9.
I know it's a little overkill, but it turns out the pass that went off someone's facemask and was intercepted was actually a pass that went in-out of Kassis' hands in the end zone and was picked off. So I'll change that to 7-11-1, 87 with two TDs. Those numbers come out to a rating of 171.9. In a small sample size one play can make a huge difference, statistically. He rating was 107.0 as it was. About a 65 point difference.

Per source: Bauman will be named starter Monday or sooner. He played above expectations today. He completed a higher percentage and his ypa was better than expected. They were hoping someone would complete 50% and be 1:1 ratio touchdowns to interceptions. Bauman met or exceeded everything except TD:Int. But the coaches were okay with that since one interception went off a receivers face.

Per another source: the MSU defense is as good as any I’ve ever seen in the FCS.
You nailed that one. Good call!
Don't forget the "...or sooner." They actually made the decision on Sunday, but I take no credit as I'm just going off what my source told me.

I think Jaharie is a big time special teams contributor this year. He blocked multiple kicks in high school and will blow some people up on kick return.

When I say "...on the bus", I mean Big Sky teams can only take a limited number of players on away trips per conference rules. So...if Jaharie is buried on the depth chart at MLB this year BUT can make an impact on special teams and as a short-yardage back, it would be beneficial for him to compete for the "short-yardage back" role.

Does anyone have any kind of news on Filer’s injury?
Ioane’s interview mentioned he had an unfortunate injury on Saturday, I haven’t heard anyone else say anything about that.
Hope that’s not serious.

When he was injured it appeared to be his wrist or forearm. He has it in a sling today. Doesn't appear from observation to be too serious. It is not in a cast or anything.
