Re: Grady Robison QB Eastlake WA commits
They said on the Root broadcast that he was at the game. Hoping witnessing that atmosphere will help us keep him committed to MSU.

In Choate we trust!!!
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Hopefully this is a walk on offer and Grady sticks as one of the gems of this class.

Re: Grady Robison QB Eastlake WA commits
I would love to land this kid, but I want to go on record as to say that I think Tommy Mellot from Butte could be something special. I have had Butte friends say Dave Dickenson Special....kind of a fitting comparison after drubbing of Dave's grizzlies. I think Grady is pretty good and I wish him luck wherever he settles.

Re: Grady Robison QB Eastlake WA commits
question: I don't usually follow recruiting that much until signing day, but when I watched the replay of the Cat beatdown of
the cubbie bears, the announcers made a big deal about a MSU QB commitment who was a 3 star that FBS schools were now
showing interest in. They said that Choate hoped he could keep him on board.
Is this the guy the announcers were talking about? Sure seems like the name Grady rings a bell.
Thanks

It was. He and his dad were on an official visit. That is good news and a good time to come and look! Seeing that crowd and game will leave a lasting impression.

It's a walk-on offer.
Still...that's a tough one to turn down for Grady. I think he wants to play though, and if he wants to play, he'll come here.

Re: Grady Robison QB Eastlake WA commits
I'll say this as a current UW student, Seattle area native, life-long Dawg fan, etc. etc.
Don't underestimate the impact this offer could have. Our current QB is an alum of a local HS (in fact my gf let him copy her Spanish homeworks so he could pass the class lmao), and a loooot of kids in Washington dream of going to UW. It's the most academically prestigious university in the state and a degree in any meaningful field means near unlimited employment in western Washington. That's big. Grady is likely not going to play in the NFL (just how these things work out) and could perhaps choose to try and walk on at UW and get a scholarship eventually to carry him through.
We never know what he completely wants and values, but the environment should be a huge plus. The next concerning thing to me could be him seeing Rovig's play and deciding he doesn't want to possibly sit behind him. It's an FCS team afterall, and it's not super often our QBs go to the professional stage and become a mainstay there. If he has the option to sit behind a much more experienced QB with fewer eligibility years, he might go to UW just to learn the position better.
I feel bad because I'll benefit either way, but I do hope he goes to the Cats more. We have more issues at QB and really it's the final piece to a championship caliber team. If we solved that last week then great, but I'm gonna need a road test before I say that the QB issue is "solved".

It's my understanding we were frontrunners in getting Justin Herbert until he got an offer from Oregon.bobcat99 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 12:00 pmIt's a walk-on offer.

Yes we were. We were also the frontrunners in getting Brock Purdy (now doing well at Iowa State) and Devon Modster (now starter at Cal).Cledus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 12:39 pmIt's my understanding we were frontrunners in getting Justin Herbert until he got an offer from Oregon.bobcat99 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 12:00 pmIt's a walk-on offer.

You never know.
I wouldn't fault him for taking a shot at succeeding at a higher level of competition. He could also be the kind of person who says, "I made a commitment and I'm going to honor it." Hopefully, he watched the Cat Griz game this weekend and decided it's something he wants to be a part of.

That's a good question, I don't know. I would have to think he got some kind of money given he was the top backup after Prukop.iaafan wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 12:48 pmDid Herbert walk on at Oregon?Cledus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 12:39 pmIt's my understanding we were frontrunners in getting Justin Herbert until he got an offer from Oregon.bobcat99 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 12:00 pmIt's a walk-on offer.

If I'm remembering correctly, I think Herbert was offered a full ride midway through his senior season (in hs).Cledus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 12:50 pmThat's a good question, I don't know. FBS can only offer a full scholarship or walk-on. Can't do partials like FCS.Cledus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 12:50 pmThat's a good question, I don't know. The Root announcers said he was at the game with his dad...so that's a good sign I would think.
oops, I see that info was already posted.

Re: Grady Robison QB Eastlake WA commits
I wouldn't blame the kid one bit for going for an FBS offer, especially if he has a chance at UW. That said I keep going back to the start of the article from after his last playoff game and have to feel(hope) this is a good sign:
Danny Uluilakepa and Grady Robison each had their helmets to their sides, talking to each other in their stained football jerseys about how fun it’s going to be next year when they’re both wearing Montana State University jerseys instead of opposing Puyallup and Eastlake high school ones, respectively.
This is for certain: The Bobcats are getting two of the most electric players in Washington state next year.
