Really surprised nobody is talking about this: Skyline reported earlier today that Jesse Owens, 2018 AA Offensive MVP from Billings West, currently with the Griz, has entered to transfer portal.

Looks like he had a scholarship offer from MSU too. Does this not have implications for us?

Am I missing something?

Edit: sorry if this is the wrong thread. Maybe should have gone back and found the 2018 Montana Recruit thread (?)
I posted it over in college athletics, maybe no one saw it

Oh, yeah, I don’t find myself over there too much. I was mainly thinking it would be of interest to MSU football since he was, at one point, recruited by the Cats.

I’m hearing that it might not have too much to do with MSU though.

He seemed to be doing well at um, winning the offensive scout team player of the year award. I hope he finds his way to a good school. Tough to give up any sort of scholly money.

Thanks for the news.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

That'd be awesome for the Cats to get him, but we'll see what happens. Interesting that he didn't wait until the end of the season though. Must really want out of there

Likely coincided with the end of the semester.

U of M fall semester doesn't end until next Friday. Last day of classes is tomorrow. But I see what you mean. He would want to get started picking a new school so he has time before the next semester starts.

More than likely was a plan as wants to get a look at by other teams/sports before the early signing date.

Sounds like he is going to either MSU Billings or here for hoops. Rumors are that sprinkle is giving him a walk on chance

So Vim, I noticed that Jake D'Agostino isn't anywhere on any of your lists. May I ask if he's made a jump into your top 50 since football season started?

Wouldn't have been on my preseason list because he had no real varsity experience on offense or defense. Had some on defense his junior year but nothing to really note as a top prospect. It also wasn't a Connor Ryan situation where a player plays sparingly his junior season but the primary reason was sitting behind two all-state players at safety. Connor ended his junior year with a great track season and followed it up with an exceptional summer football camp circuit. I didn't really give much consideration to Jake. As usual, I'll take a look at the tape, stats, measurables, and accolades prior to figuring him into the final Top 50.

That makes sense. I knew I'd never heard of him, which isn't weird for me, but I figured he kind of came out of nowhere. Thanks for the answer.

Elijah just wrapped up his junior season. He is a 6'3", 210 TE/DE from Red Lodge...and one of the best recruits in the state for next year's Montana class.

Kansas State just stole a NDSU recruit (our old coach) at the last possible day, that's what sucks about FCS sometimes. grrr
