Maybe they are buddies and made the decision together
He too thanked Choate. More than once. So I don't see this as a staff issue.

Re: Duru transfering
I know last year had a large class of recruits, but nine players are now gone, three having never made it to fall camp, five transfering out, and one retired.

Re: Duru transfering
Oh look, another WR that's jumping ship. Who could've guessed?
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Good luck to Koby as I hope he finds what he's looking for in football, education, and life.

Good luck to him. MSU needs to figure out some correlation to why kids are leaving. I'm guessing some of this is just being homesick. It happens.

Well that sucks. I was excited to see him play, LOTS of potential. He'll do just fine where ever he ends up. Too much talent to have blocking every down. Good Luck Mr. Duru!

Re: Duru transfering
There were no surprises with our offense when these kids committed to play at MSU. It was a run heavy offense the year before they committed and it was expected to be similar in 2018. I don’t think anybody is transferring because of a lack of a passing threat last year.
The competition is fierce for playing time. That is a sign of a healthy program that we have multiple athletes that can play a position. We had a couple kids transfer out but none of them were significant contributors as of yet. It is hard for kids that have the spotlight on them in high school (some for many years) to all of a sudden becoming just another dude competing for time. And sometimes the grass just appears greener at another program.
Best of luck to Duru. Hope he finds the right fit and I am sure our team will be okay as well.

Re: Duru transfering
Kramer may have been right. It doesn't pay to recruit out of state WRs out of high school because they all think they should be in the NFL. That's why he only recruited transfers. Gatewood, Jefferson, several others. He made an exception for Montana players, but at that time UM was getting them all. We did get a lot out of Turnquist though.

Re: Duru transfering
Maybe, but other teams in the FCS and even run heavy teams seem to be able to recruit and retain talented receivers. Weber State has not been a pass heavy offensive team and they have a great young receiver. If more focus is on defense, teams still need to show balance on offense. Obviously MSU is trying to improve their passing game and i think they will. Unfortunately, losing two young promising receivers after a redshirt year and likely to compete for possibly significant playing time next season is surprising. Especially with their previous position coach moving to the OC role. Seems like there may be more than just football decisions being evaluated for these individuals but at the same time interesting that both are from the same position group and class.Helcat72 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 01, 2019 3:58 amKramer may have been right. I wish Mr. Duru well. This just makes me want to see Rovig/Bauman or whoever light it up this year passing even more now. Also, this was their first winter and late fall (practices) this past year in Montana. They may not have liked the weather either.

Re: Duru transfering
I realize that every year players leave the team, and this is just something that happens to every team in the country...……… but for some reason this one really pisses me off. And I don't really know why... maybe its because I had such high hopes for Duru. I really did think he was going to grow into the next Elvis Akpla for the Cats.... frustrating.
