So I guess Ash saying it's time to get rid of the division II game didn't happen. That's such a waste of a game. Doesn't help us at all.

Doesn't really hurt MSU's chances of winning the league or NC too much either.

Maybe that happened because every other year we have played almost nobody out of the top 25 other than conference opponents.......

MSU would be glad to play a home and home with a power team and pay for a FCS team to come to Bozeman if someone/group wants to pay the difference and if the local business boosters are okay with it.

Win in November and December and more people would be willing to throw more money in the pool.

Playing the soft schedule in the early season hasn't helped us do anything besides an early exit in the playoffs.

It isn't the reason MSU hasn't gone deeper on the playoffs. Many, many teams have won national championships playing this kind of schedule. It easily conceivable that had MSU played a tougher schedule that it could've lost out early or simply not made the playoffs. There's not a strong correlation between tough schedules and winning championships.

In 1995, for example, UM played three non-I-AA teams. Minnesota-Duluth, UC-Davis and Eastern New Mexico.

I'm just going to say that everyone knows playing a D2 team can't help us and can only hurt us if we lose. The committee doesn't count it as a d1 win. I know 7 d1 wins isn't a rule anymore but I'm guessing it is a factor.

That is a legitimate reason to not like D2 games.

Idaho will be a quality (and very winnable) non-conference game. Bryant should be a Div. 1 win. I wish we could swap out Western Oregon for another Div. 1 game, but those are hard to come by. Our conference schedule will be plenty challenging, though. If we have a good season next year and we end up with a good record against that full schedule, nobody will be questioning the quality of the team.

I am very familiar with Bryant Univ. They have an excellent program. They made it up to # 25 in the rankings this year. They lost a couple of very close games. Granted their conference is not the strongest but they will be a really good opponent. It is a top notch school. They are in the process of building an indoor practice facility. The only school to have one in New England. Wish we had one. Do not underestimate this team.

I wasn't aware of any of that -- thanks for the information. Yeah, I guess our nonconference schedule may end up being rather strong.
