I was reading old topics and thought I figured that we could fire this one back up.

I would have to say any SEC football stadium, I used to go to Mississippi State University and there was to things you could count on, Church on Sunday and Football Monday thru Saturday.

Rankings 1-A
Any SEC football Stadium

Rankings 1-AA
Montana (sorry but they pack the house, and its a big house)
Montana State
Delaware
Last Place= That Stadium that they use for the National Championship. It sucks

One of the top DI-AA venues has to be the Fargodome........

It is very nice, but I would say you would have to rank the domes with each other and the outdoor one's with each other. For us football fans that think football should be played outdoors! :) (I know you have really cold winters though there so we'll give you a break ;) ).

Went to Delaware's homecoming last year. Would have to say their stadium is better than msu's.

Actually Chattanooga's Stadium is Ok. They have a great tailgating area that is large and covered. Now that they have addressed the poor field condition by installing spin turf, I would have no problem returning for another Championship game.

Probably good to classify outdoor and indoor stadiums. However, if all are considered I have been to the Fargo Dome and it rates right up there with one of the nicer facilities in 1-AA. As you said... the weather demands in the Fargo-Moorhead area demands and indoor facility.. and they did it up nice.

But Bobcat Stadium, from the many that I have seen, ranks as one of the best facilities in 1-AA and when completed in 2007 will be close to the Wash$$$ton Sta$ium in Missled land.

Didn't I see a picture of a stadium at like Tennessee State or Middle Tennesee that was a smaller version of an NFL type stadium?

It could have been the NFL Stadum itself, I think Tenn State plays where the Titans do.

Bobcat Stadium is probably in the top 10, but there are plenty of nicer ones I can think of.

Here are some good ones:

UMass

Chatty is pretty nice:

Jax State:

The other Bobcats (Tx State)

And my favorite YSU:

Just to name a few.

I would tend to rank these venues on a combination of both the facility, tailgate atmosphere, gametime atmosphere, etc.

That being said, I have to conceed the Griz' stadium as still the best. If last Saturday could be duplicated on a more regular basis in Bozeman, I would put us up toward the top.

Wyobisonman, I have noticed on your boards conversations about having the crowd get more into it during games at the Fargodome. If using the above formula, would you still rate yours way up there? I guess I'll find out in a couple of years :) :)

I'm biased, I admit, but to see the transformation taking place in Bozo after living in Georgia for as many years as I did makes me more than a little proud. Without a doubt, we'll have something to be even more proud of in a very short time--I think it'll rival GSU, Choo Choos, Furman, The Citadel, Jacksonville State, etc. as far as the structure itself but nobody in the country has the view we have from the north bleachers. Throw in our pregame festivities and you know the Cat program is back where we belong.

The Ivy League schools have some very nice and historic stadiums. Particularly Harvard!

Some nice ones. Texas State looks pretty weak though - track is definitely a huge negative.

CelticCat, that stadium in Boone really reminds me of my years teaching the Hillbilly kids  Plus, it's really hard to see anything when you're on the ground other than trees...

I agee, say what you will about the great amenties and atmosphere of Washington/Grizzly, you can't beat the view from the north and south bleachers.

And there's not too many places in the country where you can watch a forest fire from the comfort of your bleacher seat

I don't think this one is the one I was thinking of at Middle Tennessee State, but it's pretty nice!! This is kind of what Bobcat Stadium might look like expanded.

I haven't been to too many places, but anyway:

Check out the brand new grandstand at Jason Green Memorial Field in Belgrade, Montana. It rocks!

Auburn is absolutely awesome. The stadium is huge (85K), right in the middle of campus not much larger than MSU, in a town about the same size as Bozeman. You pretty much park whereever you can find a bare patch of real estate and start walking. Tailgating everywhere. I imagine most every place in the SEC is incredible (I'd love to go to LSU and Tennessee someday).

I love Washington State's Martin Stadium how it's located right smack in the middle of campus. But it's location makes the convienient tailgating we're used to impossible for most.

I went to see the Bobcats play UAB in historic Legion Field in Birmingham, AL. I expected to see the ghost of Bear Bryant wandering around that place. It's huge, in a bad part of town, and pretty basic. Going to the concession stand is like going to the catacombs.

Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium (great name) reminds be a little of Legion Field, only smaller. It's very impressive from a distance with its two tall grandstands-especially when they had the flood lights on-you could see it from all over Laramie. But it looks a little tired and could use a facelift (very boring and basic high schoolish press box).

Saw a Minnesota Gophers game from the Metrodome many years ago. A terrible place for college football. I hope they get a campus stadium built there. The new light rail in Minneapolis goes right past the Dome-so getting there will be a whole lot better these days.

There's been a few more, but those are the highlights.
