********** Really, most of you football fanatics just stop reading now, maybe come back and read this in a couple weeks *******************

Ok basketball players are on campus.... every where! I know you guy's are rabid for football, but I am pretty jacked to talk basketball. Fortunately for me I have been getting the chance to do so, just not a lot of Bobcat basketball. I just ran over to Wendy's to grab some take out, but as I was in line a bus tour from North Carolina rolled in and I got into a pretty good conversation with some folks about my Tar Heels. Yea! I had to put up with some Dukie's, but the NC State folks pretty much hid in the corner. It was great :P !!!! I ate my lunch there.

I have been able to talk about the the Griz program with the Griz folks this past week, (both online and over lunch) which I must admit I have enjoyed. I do find it an interesting puzzle to see how Krysco. will put together his team this year. I also find it interesting how ridged thinking Griz folks (at least the ones I talked with) are "centers must be 6-10" " you can not play with a 6-3 small forward and win". The one that really got my best friend was the idea that 6-7 Dlouhy could see significant minutes at the 4 position. Couple that with the fact that it looks like one of their freshman recruits showed up on campus and then quit days later, then a rumor starts last night that Krysco has a 7-0 Azzie big man about to arrive on campus for this year campaign! Oh did I mention the: Krysco offered a NBA job and turning it down, then offered a multiple year contract with UM but turning it down, but committing to staying with the team through 2005-06 year rumor. A lot to talk about.

Then there is poor Bobcats. All of their top 7-8 players return. Favored to win the Big Sky. Not a real weakness in their starting line up. The freshman are not needed to be successful. The coaches aren't going any where.

Man it is quite boring!

This time of year I put feeler out with Bobcat faithful, this is what I know. All players, returnees and recruits, have shown up and are on board.

Oh hum.....

No walk-ons yet, even Rios from Bozeman will "kind-of grey shirt" this year. Most (if not all) of the Recruits spent quite a bit of time on campus this summer (this is not true with Griz). The player who looks like he has had the best off season (basketball wise) is Dissly

.... YAWN ....

As we have heard before all of the returning players have had a great off season (including Durr and Pratt) and will make it very tough for any of the new recruits to crack into the top 7-8 off the bench.

.... YAWN ...

Man it sucks be #1

Seriously though Dissly = MVP not unreasonable thought!

BTW: If anyone is down at the gym, pppplllllllllllllllllllease give me an update

************* Now back to Football **********

It is to bad that with all the talent we have returning we could not have gotten an OOC schedule that rivaled that of the football team. Bringing in some better teams will increase the enthusiasm. I have taken my kids to games the last couple of years and it is almost boring. The fans rarely get into the game. I just hope that we romp on people early in our schedule and get a great fan base going into conference

I am not sure of the NBA job, but in the state of Montana you can only have a one year contract so I doubt Krysco was offered a multi year deal. Other than the pay increase, this is why Joe Glenn left UM for Wyoming....no security.

The recent Legislature changed that rule...schools can (with the Regents approval)offer multi-year contracts...

Well this is good news......it is time Coach Durham got a long-term deal. He certainly deserves it for all the years he has been under the gun with a one year contract.
