A Bozeman friend who wasn't able to attend the game made this comment to me when I told her I hope we violated her hearshed:
Ha! Ha! I can hear some of it, but yesterday all I really noticed was the band playing at the beginning and the cannons of course - I like hearing the football sounds. I'm about 1.5 to 2 miles away.
What the heck is up with that? We need to get that crowd sound up so she hears more then the band and the cannon! She's only 2 miles away and should be able to hear us roar!!

That was the year that they started firing the large shell fireworks during the team run outs. Those things were damn loud! I miss them. Quite expensive and booster funded iirc.

Small Town, Big Sky BOZEMAN, MONT. Bill and Janne Hayward
Bill Hayward, a retired CPA, lived in San Francisco for 33 years. His wife, Janne, had worked as a bookkeeper in Hawaii for 20 years. But when it came time to retire, the Haywards headed to Montana. "We wanted a much smaller town," says Bill, 70, who takes courses at Montana State University and does volunteer work preparing tax returns. The Haywards say they're seeing more retirees relocating from places like Santa Fe and Jackson Hole, Wyo., to escape the crowds and the rising cost of living. No wonder: The average price of a 2,000-square-foot home in Bozeman is $120,000, there's no state sales tax, and the beauty of the area is hard to beat. Yes, winters are long, but Montanans insist they're not as harsh as one might expect. And summers are virtually humidity-free

Reading back at the start of this old thread I found this gem in bold. Wouldn’t that be nice!!

Thought I'd bump this thread for a couple reasons. First, night home games ought to inspire a few more letters to the editor of the Chronicle. Second, check ought the average home price back then.

Well, she still haunts the Gallatin valley. And in 2011 she may have worn a housecoat around town.

So it sounds like prices are still crazy in Bozeman?

Just got an email from Jackie Wickens for a house on Flanders Mill. 3,000 sq. ft, two car garage, tiny fenced back yard, like 4 years old. $1.4 million.

It’s a ****** show.

$466/sq ft. Seems to be right in line. But it’s a big house. 1,500 used to be big, but that’d still be over $700,000 and higher if it’s closer in and has a yard.

There is no way I could have ever purchased my home for what it sold for, and it’s much higher now. That’s after working in Bozeman at decently good jobs for 40 years. I’m glad we could buy a house when it was still priced to Bozeman wages or business income — might be the only time I’ve felt good about being old. Anyone feeling good about a global economy?
