WSU Reciever going to be good

Went to practice the other day and Tremain (SP) is going to be GOOD. I watched this #17 run a pattern and everyone looked to be standing still. When I started to focus in on him he ran a fly pattern against Fuller and had 5 yards of seperation in about 20 yards. Travis hit him in stride. I think we have a punt returner that will be an impact. He's just plain fast and caught everything I saw throwen his way. Mike Brown was also running with the 1's. It looks like Guinn may be fighting for a starting spot. Gatewood, Murray, and Brown would be a good core.

Kalone looks big and athletic. Papich is a monster. I saw alot of the 3-4 and the DB's were playing zone all day. Hunter was back and fuller was playing the other side. Force Grundfield SS and FS. I saw Eddie Smith on the sidelines which is something we should get used to.
Matikas looked like he put on 20 pounds and Travis looked to have dropped a few.

Overall Im still worried about our smaller LB's and DL in a 3-4 config. But I'll put my trust in Krames as Im simply a fan.

Thanks for the update on the recievers. As long as the o-line stays healthy and gives Lulay some time, our recievers should be huge. Of course it wouldn't hurt our passing game to have a serious running game threat this year.

We need 2 things from our 3-4 front.
1) STOP the run. We cannot have another Ryan Mole game, ever!
2) Get some serious pressure on opposing QB's. We could have the best corners in the 1-AA, but unless they put the heat on, we will get picked apart.

Dont lose sleep over this brother. The LBs are absolute studs! Mollohan in the middle is a 2 time first conference player, Marudus is as quick as anyone on the field (in addition to being 6-1 225). Epi King is the quickest player on the defense (wowed NFL scouts last month during workouts). And the addition of Clive Lowe to the LB corp puts one of the teams best athletes as our primary rush LB - lets not forget he had 3 INTS his freshman year as a DE! The LB corp is stout.

The DL is going to surprise people this year. Matakis is rumored to be over 285. Pappich was bigger than Beau Clark last year...I've heard he is still putting on weight. Rogers, although injured, is over 285. Kolone is 285 as well, and now we've added Saucedo - 6-6, 320. Watch out Big Sky conference, THE BOBCAT DEFENSE IS BACK!

Delvan Geddes, Jason Hicks, Neal Smith, Ty O'Connor, Jon Montoya. . . . All-American D-lineman. (Did I forget anyone?)

Hopefully a couple of our current D-lineman pan out like these great ones!

I thought that we were playing Fuller at safety this year? Any news on that? Also, has Austin been practicing? And I think we had another freshman corner last year who we expecting good things from...Ryan Kelley (is that his name??)

I hope Murray turns out to be a Gatewood type. Can you imagine two WR's out there with 4.4ish speed? Can you say "throw them the ball"? I imagine if Murray gets the nod, I think Guinn will be more of a possession receiver, much like Sullivan was last year. I am getting really excited about football again!

About Fuller, I think he showed great strides last year and can be effective anywhere in the defensive backfield. I think the main reason he isn't at safety like projected is due to injuries to CBs already. They probably hope to move him to safety, but I'd rather have him training as a CB just in case he will have to play CB, which more than likely he will. I am comfortable (not estactic) about the safety position. I think Grenfell and Force will more than hold their own.

Like most of you, my biggest concern is the DL. Can they put enough pressure on the OL to make the 3-4 effective?

I am glad to hear Murray is impressing people early on. I was originally hoping he would fill the shoes vacated by Sullivan but it sounds like he may be all that and more. Let's hope so. It also sounds like a lot of young guys are getting a chance to watch and learn from a couple of veteran receivers which will help down the road. Our receiving corp sound to be in good shape.

If we can get a stable nose guard, Yes .. I think we can get enough pressure. The 3-4 is VERY flexible and you can use MANY stunts/blitzes off of that. I actually think we'll get more pressure this year using that than the standard 3-4 (mostly based on our DL 4-3 depth etc.). Who knows, we may even show some teams some 4-3 looks in some games as well. Mix it up etc.

To anyone who has seen practices and anyone who goes to the scrimmage this weekend, any updates on Travis's backups would be appreciated. I am still a bit concerned with our depth at QB and would be interested to hear how the backups are progressing this spring.

No sign of Evan G. at running back. Domineck and Gathing were the only two I saw. JD looked lighter than last year which is good. Carpenter was going with the 2's and he looked good. The kid has a stronger arm than Travis but he tends to focus on one guy to much. I dont think QB should be a worry Carpenter will be a good #2. Hopefully we can get him in for some reps this year in a mop up situation and not a blowout at the hands of the foe.

Press releases before spring ball started stated that Groves would be limited in the spring. Seems like I remember one Chronicle article stating he would practice some but wouldn't take part in the scrimmages.
