Nick Lind is receiving plenty of attention
Duck Sports Authority
Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Thunder Ridge Nick Lind, who is arguably the best player from the state of Colorado this year, is one tough running back. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound Lind is difficult to bring down for his size and has quick first few steps, which allows him to hit the holes with power.
"I would say acceleration in getting to the hole," Lind said. "I have good balance. I'm always on my feet - other than just good running. I run low and the guys that are bouncing off of me, are tackling low."
Lind played the two running positions as a junior and he could end up playing either position at the next level. He might end up doing some kicking, if the occasion presents the opportunity for him.
"I started the season at running back and then played fullback, punter, place kicker and kicker," he said. "I ran for 1,650 yards on 217 carries (7.6 yards per carry), 29 touchdowns, 56 PATs and like five field goals with a long of 51 yards. I was five for six in field goals. My punting average is 40 yards."
His outstanding performance last year did not go without recognition from the Colorado press.
"I was the MVP of The Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Post All-Colorado Player-of-the-Year." Besides those honors, he was named first-team all-league, first-team all-state and even first-team all-state as a punter as a sophomore.
What position are the schools looking for him to play in college?
"The letters don't say a position," he said. "My coach has said the ones he talked to have been for me to play at running back. I started as a fullback as a sophomore."
Although he has not received any offers yet, it should take too long to receive his first scholarship offer.
"We have friends at CSU, Montana, and Montana State," he said. "Montana and Montana State said they would take me."
He is getting steady mail from a double-digit list of Division I schools - including the following - Oregon, Wyoming, Kansas State, Colorado, Colorado State, Montana, Montana State, The Air Force Academy, Stanford, Iowa State and Georgia Tech.
He likes the following eight schools - not in any particular order - Colorado, CSU, Oregon, Kansas State, Montana, Iowa State, Montana State and Wyoming.
The family ties might be a factor down the road, but he will definitely be considering all of his options for his future football career.
"My sister goes to CU and my parents both went to the University of Montana," he said. "I had both of my uncles that went to Montana and Montana State. Both were starting quarterbacks and they played against each other.
"They are not pushing me to any school. They like Montana, as they are alumni from there."
He had the following brief comments about a few of his top choices.
"I like Montana a lot," he said. "Missoula is like Boulder; I would compare Missoula to Boulder. Colorado, I went to a camp there as a sophomore. I like Gary Barnett. They talk to me and show interest.
"I went to CSU camps the past two years. CSU is showing a lot of interest. I like Oregon a lot. I like the campus a lot. I'm scheduled for the Manhattan (Kansas) NIKE Camp."
He is also planning on taking in a summer camp at CSU, probably Oregon and Montana too.
What will be his deciding factor?
"That is hard to say," he said. "I'd like to see who is going to offer me - deciding what offers come to me."
Nick Lind will have no problems in qualifying academically. His present GPA is 3.0 and his PSAT was in excess of 1000.
Lind runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, has run an outstanding 4.10-second pro-agility, bench presses 295 pounds and squat lifts 385 pounds.
Duck Sports Authority will continue to follow this fine running back prospect - possibly the best player in Colorado this recruiting cycle.

That's hilarious, I hope Kramer can put his words together better than this, also.
I'll try to interpret since I often speak this language, too. I think what BobCat Fan means is: Kramer, Why are you not telling this kid, "you will be our future running back." Redshirt next fall, then start him as redshirt freshman.

Anebo steps out of Stewart's shadow
He was in the shadow of the top running back in the nation last year in Oregon signee Jonathan Stewart, but when Rivals.com's Jeremy Crabtree toured Washington last year, he immediately tabbed junior Mekonnen Anebo as a player that we needed to watch next season. Take a look at what schools he is hearing from.
"I'm getting interest from Washington, Washington State, California, Duke, Nebraska, Oregon, Montana and Montana State," said Anebo. "It's basically UW, Nebraska and Duke right now."
He attended Junior Day at Washington and plans to go to the one at Washington State next month. He also would like to go to camps at Cal as well as the in-state schools and will go to team at camp at Central Washington as well as the NIKE camp in Eugene.
So even though he played in the shadow of Stewart, and even wide receiver Jaron Taylor, was Anebo able to do enough to stand out? He was a second team all-league selection as a defensive lineman (he played a rush end last year), but is more likely to play linebacker at the next level at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds and runs a 4.5 second 40 yard dash.
And he looks at Stewart's recruiting as a major positive for him. He said, "It will help me because I had never seen it in real life. Before this year, I hadn't received a letter from a college coach. It also helps me a lot because without (Stewart and Taylor) I don't think I would have been noticed. We weren't a big football school until they got there."
