? what kind of season. If they turn it around and go 12-2 in the BSC like 3 years ago after a slow start?
How about when they finish near the bottom again

I voted for "no" at the current time, but that may change as the season progresses. I am still optimistic regarding a successful conference schedule...we're finally healthy, it's time for them to step up and win some games.

I voted yes for the current time because as we have discovered in previous threads many people aren't really fired up about MSU basketball anymore. I would love to see this team turn the season around and win the BSC, but even if they do that, IT IS MY OPINION that we need a new coach who will bring the fans back. Some, like Kramer, who will get you excited about what is happening in the program.

That would be my vote also..................it is time to step up to the plate and perform.....the experimentation is over!

All right folks I have been described as Durham loyalist on this board. I have reportable
ticked off most of the Durham family with my triads about his handling of the 5-8 the last
couple of years. So take this as you will but, what hell is the purpose of ragging
on the coach and team one day before the Big Sky Conference season starts!!!
I am an all-weather, Bobcat Good luck on the season Guy's and Gals

Just to be a smartass... when is the best time to start ragging on the coach, mslacat?
As for the poll -- I am abstaining. I don't know enough to make that call one way or another. My only main gripe was with his comments that sounded really pessimistic to me. I will set aside my thoughts on that for now and pretend like he was just sandbagging to coax future opponents to sleep, and that the team will then pounce on them like the helpless foes that they are.
I really do wish I would get a little bit more from the program to get excited about, though. Even if it's just lip service... it's better than a defeatist outlook coming from the coach's mouth.

As far as Coach Durham is concerned I feel like it is time for some new energy within the system. We have become complacent with the basketball program and its time for a change. I just think that the program has not met the expectations of a division I program. I am not trying to attack Durham personally but I think that if we had a coach that wasn't from Three Forks, lets say Kansas instead, we would not be putting up with 2 conference titles and 1 NCAA tourney appearance. He would have been gone a long time ago.

I think that is a very good comment. Being a local boy, former player, etc. he has become a fixture at MSU and it makes this type of decision much tougher. Couple that with the type of program (off the court) he runs and it makes it VERY tough to can him.
By the way, welcome aboard.

I can think of 358 days that would be a better time than today! The week before conference starts!! I know if I was a player this is exactly what i would not want to hear the day before conference started. This is the team we are delt this year. I know some of you wish we would have gotten a new coach last year and i can respect that and have no problem with that line of thought. The same goes for those who who are glad he is here now, but could we just give the team positive support going into conference and give them the chance to prove themselves. I have my own personal feelings but this team is so young with so many new players that i have purposefully held back from judging them until we see them in conference. Do as you wish, but I refuse to pile on until they have been given that chance. I am a basketball nut and yes i tend to want to keep my rose colored glasses on a little bit longer, come mid conference time I wil most likely have a clearer picture as to the direction the program needs to go.

I don't think that it matters to the players what we say here on the board. And I also don't think it matters what time of year it is as far as talking about needing change in the program or not. Think about the way coaches are treated in other programs, if their teams are performing poorly they are going to be on the hot seat. By us talking about wanting change that doesn't mean we don't want the team to succeed, it simply means we want something new. Trust me will be in the top 3 in conference this year and we will save Durham's job once again. But I feel that even if we do win conference we still need new blood in the system. I just don't think that he has proven to be a consistent winner throughout his tenure in Bozeman and his record is there to back me up.

I hope some of the players on the team do read this. I DO NOT like our no 'conscience' fling the 3 offense. Yeah, its exciting .. makes the player look like he's good bla bla bla. But when that is your offense and you go cold or other team can shut you down ... what do you have left? A .500 team or worse. I have said it before and I'll say it again .... I do not like our current style of basketball this year. Taking 3's with people in your face (or way out) with the shot clock winding down is not a sign of a good consistent offense.

ya you may have some folks thinking that this is not a good time to talk about Mick going,I know, lets watch Larry K. build that program back up and then we will see how much you care!
BY the way I have been talking about new blood for YEARS, life does not happen on this board.

I can't in good conscience vote here; if Mick is tired, and I did not get that impression based upon his interview prior to conference play yesterday, then he should take some time off to recharge, reevaluate, and reprioritize his life. Sometimes, a time away from your passion helps your outlook in life.

2/3 of this borad think Mick should go. Not the support of confidence that a coach needs.
Bring in a coach that will show us the money. Money makes the world go round. Nice guys get lost in the shuffle.
