MSU press release - scrimmage

Post by SonomaCat » Wed Apr 07, 2004 5:16 pm

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State football coach Mike Kramer is comfortable with his players' hearts. Now, he's working on their heads.
"I call this coordinators' week," Kramer said of his team's
third week of spring football practice. "The purpose of spring practice
is two-fold. First, you evaluate, teach, and lead. But you're also
always trying out new ideas. It's like working in a laboratory. We've
identified the kids we think will play a lot next fall. In these four
practices, we're trying the things we want to do to see if they'll
work."
Kramer is pleased with his team's rate of improvement. "We're
working hard and getting better," he said. "I like this team's passion
for practice and improving."
As the team continues to work toward clean health, the presence of one player was remarkable. Just three weeks after ankle surgery to remove bone spurs, junior college running back Morris Milton practiced on Monday and Wednesday. "We expected him to be out the entire session. This is one of the most surprising developments of the spring."
Milton's skills, and those of his teammates, will be on display
Friday. Center Lawrence Figueroa, who suffered a broken leg last fall
which required pins and reconstructive surgery, also returns. The
Bobcats will scrimmage in Bobcats Stadium. "The scrimmage will be
situational in nature," Kramer said. "We've done a lot of scheme work
this week, and we'll look to evaluate players based on what they're
able to do within that context."
Kramer indicated that the scrimmage time remains up in the air, and will be contingent on the day's weather. Scrimmage time will be

Great to hear that Milton is practicing, along with Lawrence. Now if the rest will heal up and get some reps this spring (if possible).

GO CATS!!
