UC Davis is making the Big Sky proud tonight. If they get hot, they have every shot at making it to the Natty. An All-BigSky National Championship game would be epic. I don't think that has ever happened has it?
Yeah, Davis is clearly good enough to win a home game against the Birds and a road game at Tarleton (or another home game against an East Coast team if 'Nova pulls off the upset, which they clearly could). Nobody on that side of the bracket stands out at this point.

I'm guessing the Pandas are bumming about their bad luck to have been gifted the wrong seed after losing the Brawl. If they had been slotted in the 4 or 5 where they belonged, they would be on a glide path to Nashville.
It sure seems like that other bracket is a much easier path to the NC. Maybe not, but I'm thinking Davis stands a really good chance of getting to Nashville. Griz still have 2 pretty tough games, if they get both games.
Well it was the Bison side. #1 usually has easier path and Bison get even easier one
Of course! And with them losing the path opened wide.

So...USD. I watched the end of their 5 OT game. They completely thrashed Mercer. What's the consensus? Tougher than SDSU? Probably healthier anyway. I know the Cats played them last year, and won, but I seem to recall they played tough. The Griz were pretty dominate in the 2nd half yesterday. Might be quite a battle.

They're a good team with a good QB. 2nd in the Missouri Valley behind ndsu. I don't think they can goto missoula and win, but i also don't have a ton of confidence in the griz defense, so usd certainly has a chance.
But if I were a betting man, I'd bet on the griz to win at home.

If the Griz jump on them early, they'll probably beat them handily but if they let them hang around, things could get rough. It was rather baffling how bad they were early in the year after such a great year last year and returning the most out of the "top" teams. I do think they are quite a bit healthier than SDSU so the Griz better not take them too lightly after their dominance last week.

Had returners but new coach. Maybe took awhile to gel. RB has been tough and went for 160 last week. If he can get 100 and Griz give up 350 in air again it will be tight.

Probably will be a pretty accurate score. The USD defense seems to have woke up the last half of the season. Their offense is pretty explosive as well. I remember their QB from last year. He had a pretty dang good arm. He was 20/29 for 236 yards and no INTs vs MSU in last year's semifinal. The only thing I will say is I don't think he is very mobile in the pocket. He might have a very hard time against the Griz's blitz packages that they love to run every other play. I think their best bet is running the ball, controlling time of possession and hitting quick throws over the middle, keeping the Griz offense off the field as long as possible.

Griz should prevail at home, but I think this might be a tougher game for them then SDSU

I’ve got mixed feelings with NDSU losing yesterday. We were in the middle of an uncomfortably close game and the whole stadium was more focused on that game than ours. I get it, the boogeyman goes down and it seems like the red carpet is rolled out for the cats then two plays later we fumble and let them right back into it. Maybe it feels different if the cats are up 40 at the time but that wasn’t the case.

Also probably jealous as I was hoping the cats would have been the team to send them packing. To be the best you gotta beat the best and it just feels weird that ISU was the ones to do it.
Yeah that was weird when everybody in Bobcat stadium found out the Bison were going down. It was just happenstance when Lamson turned it over, but it felt like an omen almost.

Adam Jones had his long TD run the same play the whole stadium got loud when the student showed the camera the NDSU Lost note. Lamson fumbled the next drive.

I can't believe Ill St. won after throwing FIVE interceptions. NDSU fumbled twice so the margin was only 5-2 but five INTs is crazy. NDSU was only 2-13 on 3rd down which must have played a large role in not being able to capitalize.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

If I were the cats I'd be worried about the griz coming to town. If we play like we did Saturday, we are unbeatable. We left 14 points on the board too. We have our best defensive back returned now. game changer. should be a great game, I hope it happens!

ha yes we should all take some baby asprin before the game, if it happens. one thing is for sure - montanans are lucky to have two great programs in the state. lets be honest - it would be the real NC game.

I have asked this on a couple spots and not gotten an answer. With the corner back, how did it improve the D. I keep reading how it was a game changer and made such a big difference. Statistically it didn't seem to help the passing yards given up. It did seem like Griz run defense was better. And also Griz O was able to take advantage of SDSU in pass game.

maybe it's because the answer is obvious. He is our best corner. If your best corner was out most the season, then came back, would it improve your defense? stats don't include intangibles. He is said by many to be the leader of our defense. if the leader of your defense came back would it be beneficial to your team?

Teton, I don’t know if I have a real answer, but here’s my take on it. The Griz coverage in the defensive backfield looked the best it’s been all year. Yes, Mason threw for over 300 yards, but 95 of those yards came on a 5-yd dump pass for a TD with about 90 yds gained after the catch. A lot of the other passing yards occurred after the game was decided (when the Griz had some back-up players in the game). No excuses, though — the Griz gave up a lot of passing yards. The sacks (forced by good coverage) and two interceptions by the Griz D were other contributions from the backfield.

Even if the supposed best D player comes back, what’s that worth? 7 fewer on D? Doesn’t help the O. And Cats at home is worth a 7-10 point delta for homefield.

Who knows what the return of a top DB means? I don’t. I do remember when my Bobcat buddies used to get almost weepy talking about what a Joey Thomas or a Kane Ione meant to the team. I think the bigger picture is that the stronger defensive effort (with that supposedly superstar Mason at QB) gave the Griz offense room to hang 50 points on SDSU.

SDSU seemed to not be able to run the ball. That will limit a QB a lot if you have an offense that relies on it.
