That's another component to all this. How long before players start realizing the grass isn't always greener, and sometimes there is no grass?
My thoughts exactly.
Most businesses know the saying the cure for high for high prices is high prices, this thing will come full circle and bottom out. Doesn't matter if it is the wheat market, real estate home prices, things always come back down.
The 49ers may very well win the Super Bowl with Brock Purdy, whose salary is $870,000. A quarterback making $1.5 in the Big 12 may never win a championship and that will reduce the value boosters are willing to pay in the future.

Since there are no enforceable rules, I’d think most of them would have at least one place in hand before they entered the portal. Wasn’t it basketball a few years ago that a big chunk of the players were finding no grass?

I couldn't imagine being a coach or any type of a playcaller in this type of environment.
If I was a linebacker and I knew I'd get paid $1,500 for a sack on third down, I'd be pissed if the DC had me dropping into coverage while my fellow linebacker got to blitz and potentially make the money. Or maybe i'd just say "screw the call, I'm blitzing on my own"

Sounds like a lot when they put it that way. Just 3.5 players per team.
They should also have a trade system. MSU has so many good OL imagine if they could’ve worked out deals for Omar and Rush.
Well, you’d have to have the players on a contract and be paying them outright and they’d have to agree to the trade….a professional system. Otherwise, the whole involuntary servitude issue might get in the way.

I’m not going to pitch that ball to the running back for the potential TD. Papa needs to get paid.

Can you send a payment request to a player if they drop a pass/fumble/miss a tackle?

Whoever us providing NIL money probably do have a contract.

Oh, I'm sure the NIL guys do but the schools still couldn't trade a player. At least, not now or for the foreseeable future or really ever. .

I think we should just move up to FBS without the Gris and then pick up their transfers. 🫢

At some point I would think contracts will be in place. They are getting scholarships, meals, training and now NIL through boosters and businesses. If they do promotions using MSU gear, logo etc seems like it eventually will be a situation they are contract employees. At that point who knows. I can't imagine it being more wide open than pro sports before for long without it destroying most other NCAA sports.

Me too, it’s inevitable that sort of thing happens. I think I read something about that recently too or saw a video on it.

Out of control.
The idiots have won. It’s a shame. Bad decisions are being made right now and the consequences are gonna be bad for schools and athletes, real bad. Kids are seeing dollars that they will likely burn through, and then they are left with no memories or experiences, because they were a pawn for the highest bidder. Talk about old times, you are being bought boys wake up.
If your left, you aren’t right.

So we now live in a world where a kid can come out of college to the NFL and receive a pay cut.

I'm sure a kid making $500K in NIL will be very motivated to read the book assigned to him in English Lit.
