I'd say the conservative projection is that he'll be taken in the 60s, which means end of 2nd or first few picks of the 3rd. In order for a player to rise as much as Troy has multiple other guys need to fall. He also needs to be the right fit as a 2nd rounder for at least one team. There will likely be other positions of higher need or other LBs that are seen as more ready to play week 1 than Troy just based on his lack of experience at the position. Troy has more upside than just about anyone in the draft but not every team can draft for upside in round 2.

Outside of a couple particular teams I hope he ends up on I just want him to go somewhere than will develop him and make the most of his talents. The pick number isn't that important.

Agree with all this. I get it, it's ALL about the $$ and that will dictate where he ends up, but what I really hope for him is that he doesn't land on a perpetual crappy team and become their franchise linebacker, and spend his entire NFL career as an awesome linebacker on a crappy team that has no real chance of a deep playoff run and possible SB title.

I don't think there are many NFL franchises that would be a bad fit for TA save Houston and maybe Jacksonville. I would not at all be stunned to see the Jets take him at pick 36 or 38 if he's still on the board. The coaching staff coached him at the Senior Bowl, they have two picks in the 1st round and two in the second - allowing them to take a "risk" on a high upside player, and HC Robert Saleh built his dominant defense in San Francisco around a LB with a very similar skill set, Fred Warner. I think that most NFL scouts and analysts are calling TA a day one starter. I think that his tape and testing show that to be true.

With respect to other people having to fall in order for TA to move up, there was a lot of that happening in Indy as well. It's just not as fun to talk about how Kingsley Enagbare or DeMarvin Leal had subpar testing and will be falling out of the 2nd round (there are many more examples of this, I just picked the first two that came to my head).

McShay has reported he views Andersen as a Day 1 starter in the NFL. Which means if somebody gets him in the 3rd they’re getting incredible value. I still hope the 2nd round (although the fan in me wants some amazing scenario to come together where he goes in the 1st round).

And that would absolutely suck. Talk about a perpetually bad team. I can't even imagine being an elite player and signing up with a team knowing there is not much hope of ever having a good team.

Not to rain on the 1st round parade, but I think the biggest issue that hasn't really been talked about is his durability. What are the medical folks saying about his injuries and his recovery? He has been banged up and the NFL is a size bigger than most of the FCS players he faced.

I think playing on real grass all year will make a big difference honestly. The shoulder injury he sustained against SHSU may not have happened or been as bad on real grass. From my experience with grass and turf grass is a lot more forgiving when falling, diving and tackling.

Yes, that's something to think about. However, I think Kiper, McShay et al probably have some good insider info on that and wouldn't be talking him up if that was an issue. It isn't something that comes out during all the physical testing events that we see on TV. I have to believe that he came through that portion fine, but maybe that stuff is kept on the down low. We'll know when the draft starts, and he isn't selected in the first three rounds.

As a Packers fan, I feel the same way if he were go to the Bears. I’ll support him wherever he goes and hope he has a pro bowl filled, great career no matter what, but if that’s with the Bears or Vikings… gross.

And this was written before Seattle released Bobby Wagner I think. They might be positioning themselves to get him at 41 if he's still available. Just hoping he got good reports from doctors at the combine.
